Exclamation Haltech Boost Control -- Solenoid not actuating? HELP!

Hey!,
I can't seem to get the haltech to control the stock TII boost control solenoid properly. I have the period at ~30, and the PWM output is wired directly to the solenoid, but even with the map values all on 95% the solenoid remains off.

Am I missing something? I thought that it might have been the 'trim control', so i jumpered that, but it made no difference.

This is really driving me up the wall! I just leaned out the car (TII w/ a 60-1, etc. etc.) a bit and the boost dropped to 7 lbs (doh!). It looks like leaning it out helped the wastegate regulate things.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated -- I really don't want to have to purchase an aftermarket controller

Thanks!,
Manolis

You leaned it out to help a boost control problem? That doesn't sound healthy.
Try posting this in the Haltech Forum which is located inside the ECU Forum.
Good Luck!

the haltech can control boost OK. why are you using the stock mazda boost control solenoid its garbage! if your gonna do it find a much better wastegate solenoid to use or use a manual boost controller or a proven EBC , eg profec b, blitz sbc-id, profec e-01 etc.... you didn't lean out the fuel did you ? be very careful we don't want you blowing up your baby!

the % is the duty cycle of the wastegate. its basically how fast it responds to open or close the wastegate....

Node: No, I leaned it out because it is running so rich that 1). The Wideband is PEGGED on 10:1 and 2). It is misfiring above 6krpm and there is a very strong gasoline smell from the wastegate dump tube (open, right under my feet )

Vosko: Is there a solenoid other than the stock Mazda one that you recommend for the Haltech Boost control? As I mentioned above, the thing is running like 8 or 9:1 AFR above 6K, and about 10-10.5:1 at 5k or so Plenty of fuel, and i'm taking it out about 2-3% at a time. Do you have any recommendations on a decent EBC (preferably one I can find used, i'm 18 and in high school, and make about 50 bucks a week )

Thanks!

heh, OK, i think i've got something similar on there right now. Do you T that Bleed valve into the wastegate line, or put it directly in line with the wastegate? (I have a bleed valve T'ed into the wastegate line as of this afternoon, but I was wondering if putting the bleed valve inline with the wastegate and then closing it slowly <as opposed to opening the T'd in valve slowly> would work better?)

I managed to hit 13psi today with the bleed valve in there, but it'd be nice to have a 'better' boost curve. I've been leaning it out 2-3% at a time all day long, and It's finally stopped misfiring

Thanks,
Manolis

you have to try it and find out.... i don't remember how i had them on my FD. personally i am using a blitz sbc-id. that thing is rock solid at whatever boost i set it to. it amazes me when i see 10psi rock solid in every gear with my T78 lol
