Tim at RPM performance centre already has kits for 12A's and all 13B's except REWs. i already asked him about REW kits and 20B kits, he can do them on a special order basis. he's making a kit for my REW motor now. the pullies are designed to underdrive the accesories on your motor, but he tells me that the altenator will still charge at 950 RPMs.

contact tim at:

i'll add thier web site addy later when i find it....

??

Is everyone just emailing Tim individually?

Seems like it'd be a good idea to compile the info here?

Did we ever find out about: wheel diameter, tooth count, belt length, etc...

Just figured it'd be easier to get the answers and post them once, than to force the vendor to reply individually to everyone...

you're probably right steve. i didn't ask much about the details of the kits he has, because i wanted a special order for my FD. the FD kits are a PITA because he has to modify the cas pick up and needs stock 'donor' pullies to do this. he told me that he had already done a FD set and had good results, so i told him to start on mine.

i'll mail him today and get specs (diameter, tooth count, ect) from him and post the answers here. i think it is a better idea to organize everything here and then contact him. he may be interested in doing a GB with us as well. i'll forward him the link to this thread as well, so he can answer ppl's questions.

ok, let the questions begin....

He wrote me back regarding the RE/REW/3rotor engines and he said that they would probably be around $200 more AUS for them. I say we get a group buy going on the FD ones?!?!? Oh about the Apex seals, i played with a set of them, they are incredible. Ill let you know when they are ready

hey vosko, try to gert bacon and some other FD guys interested in this too, then mabye Tim will start producing the FD kits on a regular basis. right now the FD kit is more than the 13BTs because of the CAS. Mine is on order already, but thats because I'm impatient, and apparently think I have money to burn

anyway... lets not flood Tim with e-mails, he should be posting on this thread soon, so we can get the answers here as a group, rather than him answering the same question 1000 times through e-mail.

Time for a group buy. I'm in on the 20B set. All I need it for is the water pump, eccentric shaft and Alternator. Don't have AC or PS on the 20b... but doesn't look like the gilmer drives I've seen touch those anyhow...

What is the long term durability of them?

I have a set not from Tim at RPM but they did not last more than 20 000km, with poor quality Aluminium you get excessive wear on the teeth and ALL sorts of problems result.

I know a guy in NZ makes kits very similar to these, I bought my two piece center bearing crank kit of him and he uses high grade Aluminium to avoid this problem of excessive wear of the pulleys.

Hey i have a pic of a NZ set that is like twice as wide as the pic above. If someone could size the pic for me we could post it. Its on a 10a motor and the belt is so wide its cool. It one like the big top fuel blowers use.

Three years ago I was working for a National Power atransmission company called BSC motion technology, I was there sales engineer for 3 years, we had alot of problem with Aluminium being durable over the long term, the only solution was to go with very expensive grades or to use steel for the outer rings (bit like what is used for timing belts on cars these days)

I would like to know what the specs are on the material RPM use for manufacture, as if it is high grade I would be interested in a set..if the price is right

can I ask the eople who have expressed intrest in this so far what thier reasons for wanting one are?

would anyone be opposed to stainless steel construction? i dont think there would be any disadvantages to using stainless....

I would prefer a stainless construction over aluminum in this type of design any day.

The reason I want one is that it looks ******* TRICK! Kind of the ricey side of me, but wtf, i don't care... nothing else about my car is rice, except maybe the Konigs (that are going away, mind you).

Anyhow, I got an email from tim today. Looks like the 20b kit is the same thing as the 13bt kit, you just have to use a 13bt water pump (which I was going to do anyhow). He quoted me $395 AUD = $213.78 USD.

Shipping is $180 AUD = $97.41 USD for 2-4 day shipping or $125 AUD = $67.65 for 7-10 day shipping.

We need to find out about construction, stainless steel option, turn around time.... yadda yadda yadda.

not sure what the final verdict is but if it can be made out of stainless, I am in for one on my 20b.

Tim told me that it would take some extra time (extra week), but he said he could make mine out of chrome molly. i'm assuming he can do this for all of them. he didn't say if/ or how it would affect the pricethough....

he said stainless would be too expensive
