Turbo timer.... hahahaha.... that's the first mod installed by my car's previous owner that I removed.

Any supporting mods to keep the temps down is key!

From what I have gathered over the years of researching these cars is this.

These cars fail due to multiple things. but these seem to be the most common.

1) Overheating/running hot all the time.
2) Carbon locking up seals.
3) failure of components causing engine failure (vacuum line fails to wastegate)
4) High intake air temps.

If you are on a budget and want the most out of the car I would do something like that.

Upgrade to metal air seperation tank.
get a downpipe.
Get an all metal radiator, ensure the ducting to it is great.
Ensure you have a good running thermostat and fans.
Replace all the vacuum lines, and ensure all the plastic boxes are in good working order.
Replace the fuel filter and fuel sock on the pump.
Run a little premix of 2 cycle oil for better lubrication, block off OMP if you want to. (carbon source).
Ensure you have great ducting to the intercooler.

If anything smells like fuel ever, locate problem and fix immediately.

If you want you can get a powerFC and commander (watch water temp, air tem) and watch boost.
