First Mods
Your on the right path, I believe the first mods are always downpipe, and boost gauge. A radiator is always an excellent upgrade, an ecu can wait until your looking for more power. When doing any mods I would first do a full tune up on the car. You don't know the last time the plugs or fuel filter or air filter were changed. Also flush your coolant system and change the fluid in your tranny, diff., and brakes.

1) Boost Gauge & Turbo Timer $200
2) AST $150
3) Catback Exhaust $350-600
4) Intake $400
5) 3" Downpipe $300
6) Hi-Flow Cat, Boost Controller & ECU Upgrade $1,500
7) Springs, anti-sway bars & tower strut $625
Be sure and do these separately....leaving time for adjustments....if something's wrong....you only have to back off one mod. If you do them all at once, you risk a problem then don't know which mod caused it.
The prices above are just estimates for parts only.......Be sure to map out a budget plan (unless you're filthy rich), then do your research to identify which brand you want to use. (I went w/Pettit's stuff cause they were close and I really liked what they said about their intake and I read a lot about the other intakes).
My goal is to be designated as "The Ultimate Warrior" by using Pettit's designated upgrades.
Be careful, but most of all.............Have Fun!

Let's SEE.... get rid of the rear bin....spare tire...rear tower brace....hmmmm.....
Yeah. That should work for beginners. Depending on how tall you are you should have plenty of room for some bumping and grinding back there *with the hatch open of course*
The RX-7 will bring women outta the woodwork. I've been asked by 30 something year old women to help them pump their gas because they have never ever done it before! Umm...Yeah....Right!
Wait a minute. What was the original question?

I agree with everything that has been said. Personally I got downpipe, turbo timer, boost gauge, and water temp gauge. Next I got fluidine radiator, cb exhaust, and a underdrive pulley. Then intercooler, intake, and fuel pump. Just my ideas

I've talked to people that say the stock ECU sucks period, and it should be the first thing to change. Other people say you're ok until you start boosting over 14.7, others say anything upgraded on the car you need to upgrade the ECU.. etc...
You get the picture..
Here's how it was put to me... The guy asked:
"Do you like your car?"
I said, "Yes."
He asked, "Do you like your engine?"
I said, "Yes."
He asked, "Do you want to pay for a new engine?"
I said, "Nope."
He said, "Upgrade the ECU then."

Cat-back exhaust, boost gauge, turbo timer, and maybe a down pipe. This will give you a little bit of performance, but also allow you to keep a close eye on the vitals of the car.

Are there any ECU;s where u can order them, put them in your car and not have to reprogram them everytime you get a new mod?
lets say i have dp and intake, then i buy an ECU, would i have to send it back to get it reprogrammed for the mods? or could i buy an ECU where u dont have to send it back ever?

not to bring you down or anything .. Butttttt you may have to be much pickier about mods then most of us .. since you are in that dreaded Carb state.
generally it really depends
power wise there is normally the 3 mod rule 3 flow mods then you need an ECU , but that is only accurate if the flow mods make you overboost basically its different you need an ecu when your wastegate can no longer take the extra flow
There are ways around it without getting a new ECU , Like... boost controllers in order to have the wastegate open earlier in order to compensate for the extra flow .
Also
Vacume line replacement . The vacume lines get old and brittle and baked . because of where they are .. a common mod apart from mentioned above is replacing the vacume lines in order to make sure everything is working ( sometimes its better not to touch it until something breaks then its time for reworking the vacume lines )
But rather then start with the modding bug . if you get a good running car .. enjoy it . rather then power go for reliability . and slowly work your way up .

it depends , if you can afford it go with a Vmount but its alot more work then a stock mount Just put that into concideration . if you plan to drive the car hard .. track days , auto-x I'd go with the V mount .
I'm a BIG fan of using the PFC But its not nessecary yet .
second or even first would be a downpipe to remove the precats .

Nice 13 YEAR bump!!
If you continue to search around most of your questions will likely be answered (I figure you HAD to search to find this thread )
Remember quality over quantity. Spend the extra money to get the better product ONCE and to have it done RIGHT and you'll save much time, money, and headache down the road. Personally I would steer clear of ANYTHING branded as an rx7store kit, they are (barely) one step above ebay companies imo. Pay extra for the higher quality and you'll enjoy it much more.
Start small, remember K.I.S.S. and use current technology as much as possible.
