Engine SWap 1st gen

I was just wondering if it's possible to fit a 20B 3 rotor engine into the 1st gen engine bay? with little modifications? and if so where could i go to getone? as well as the trans to accompany the power? i have done searches and found nothing? and if it wont work then what would be a good swap? plz give examples as well as where to get the engines?

Not easy at all. Requires a ton of modification.

A good swap is a 13bt from a tubo second gen. I don't have enough time to explain what goes into it. I'll be back in a few hours if someone hasen't chimed in already.

1st Gen may be the hardest RX-7 to swap a 20B into.

2nd should be easiest (least amount of modification necessary) and 3rd second (just because there are kits you can buy which include things like custom oil pans or custom subframes).

Regardless of which is easier, none are easy, all will require a decent amount of work (meaning more than expected at project start date).

Transmission your best option is probably a TII transmission. It will handle the power, are relatively easy to find a used one, and cheap to buy. An FD transmission (basically the same strength as a TII unit) would also work.

Indeed, a 20b first gen is kinda ridiculously hard and definitely costly (don't think thousands, think ten-thousands).

The 13bt into the first gen is your best bet. Easy and has been done enough that there's plenty of knowledge about it.

Good luck.

since we're in the subject, can you fit a tii engine, transmission and rear end into a first gen? pretty much a TII with a first gen body. is this possible and if so, how much work would be involved in a project like this?

The engine and trans are easy to put in a FB/SA. I haven't seen anyone put a FC rear in one though.
