I'm guessing coolant for cooling the rear of the motor.

All these fittings play an important role in the cooling modifications needed to make this assembly work properly. CLR's cooling methods and modifications both internally externally have been put to the test and even run on engine dyno's for periods of time exceeding 12-14 hours on 4 rotor kit engines.

I know these answers are not what people care to read on here but... this is not his CLR's hobby. This is his livelyhood and he makes a living out of this. Therefore I cannot disclose any info about the particulars in the build and hope you understand that.

I will post some more pics up soon

I know what your saying but how come they can't duplicate what Mazda did to the 787b? You don't see any fittings like that on the exhaust side of the engine and that engine reliably ran for well over 24hrs. Does CLR not know what Mazda did or are they just implementing their own cooling technique?

http://www.rotaryengineillustrated.c...or-engine.html

Too me all the cooling magic just might be in that large hi volume water pump Mazda was running. When I see that water pump, I keep searching the internet trying to find something similar. Mazda knew the factory style pumps wouldn't meet the 4 rotors flow needs, yet most 4 rotor conversions either use the a stock 2nd gen unit of even the weak flowing fd units. Most however us a electrical set-up that we all know isn't designed for long term usage. I'm gonna start doubling my research on a totally new water pump solution.

One cannot duplicate Mazdas efforts from that time. The original 26B engine had 2 fat plates and its design was to cool 2 halves of the engine as apposed to entering water from the front now and having it get hotter as it travels past each housing. Mazda no longer makes these parts and the tooling to recreate them is unavailable. At least for the moment. This is why you find what is called now a Frankenstein engine. Its just a developed 4 rotor shaft to accomodate 4 rotors as if you were just stacking up housings together. This was never what Mazda ran or anything close. and this is why it has become such and effort, task and pain in the *** to find something that works and stays together. It really has nothing to do with the water pump that was used in the Original 26B but more along the lines of where that water pump sent the water.

Thumbs up Engine Rotors

The Engine Rotors have been modified and had the CLR touch to them and are now ready for balancing. This process will involve the Rotors, 3 Piece E-shaft and the counter weights.

Rob took the words out of my mouth...

But, if you look at later model 4 rotor setups from Mazda you WILL see them using a welded on cooling feed neck to center iron.

Rob thx for the clarification as that does make since. I've already half way figured out a custom hi volume water pump set-up. It may not be that expensive either. It's experimenting time.

Those rotors look sick! How much to they weigh?

Looking good Rob

Im putting mine back in the car again, gonna drive it alittle bit more this year. Then open it up in the winter and check it and rebuild it. Gonna tune it to 9500 rpm in about a month or so

Just missing a fuel pump for the start

nice setup, cant beat the 4 rotor! have seen good 4 rotors run with standard water systems, even after a couple of years racing have seen no need for out of ordinary system, nothing like making things better but definitly not a must for extra mods. electric pump, good tune and bobs your uncle
