Mike Crawford's Dodge Neon ran a 9.07@155mph at the NHRA Import race in E-Town last weekend. This car runs the factory FWD auto tranny!

Those guys were pitted next to me at E-town. They had an oil pump failure on saturday morning drove to delaware to get an oil pump and then went on to win on sunday. They kicked ***.
Its actually a caravan tranny and motor 2.4L it sits reversed in the engine bay, they run a speed-pro, hardblocked motor, and a puny T-3 T4. The car was 200lbs over weight so they added NOS.
Can you say outta nowhere?
We got alot of catching up to do.

Crispeed,
do they let you in the quick class or do they make you run outlaw?
Boostn7,
ya we ran the car then it caught fire at half track. burnt the whole underside and rear bumper.
we rebuilt it, made some more power at the dyno. went back to the track and then the car ran like a sack of ****. 11.0 on the turbo and 11.4 on the NOS? WTF? we still won 1st place go figure.
I hate cars.
tonite I'm gonna try a 150 shot for fun. I'm serious.

I prefer to run in the Outlaw class because for me it's more fun running right next to cars that are tube frame and 1/2 chassis and are at least 300 to 500 pounds lighter!
If I wanted to run in the Quick class all I would have to do would be to change the shifter on the transmission to a H-type to make the tranny legal. As for the weight it's well over the minimum even with the additional weight penalty for the tranny and rear.

So you wanna know what happened?
the motor was down about 60 hp on the dyno so we threw the fogger at it, and not even a second into it, The motor breaks.
was still running but sounded funny, shut it off, after that there was no more vacuum when we tried to start it.
take the header off about two litres of C16 pour out, take the motor apart, broken front upper dowel pin. Everything else is mint.
SO now what? I'm gonna go abuild another motor, try a different port SPRAY IT AGAIN!
tonite!

Sorry to hear that!
In this buisness thats all part of it!
It's a learning process when you're pushing it to the limit. The important part is to learn and correct mistakes and get past that stage of the game.
BTW. How much power was it making before the mishap?
