Question Burnout Question With BFG Drag Radials

Just got in my BFG drag radials that I'm going to mount on my stock rims.

QUESTION: Do you want to get in the water box with these during burnout? What is the best procedure when using these at the strip? Any other advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I have Nitto's, but I try to stay out of the water box.
I do a burnout just in front of it to warm up my tires.
I just bought a line loc but haven't used it yet. I think with a line loc, you could stay in the water box and burnout in 2nd. gear.

I have BFG's. You'll want to do a spin in the water box, then inch foward out of it, then lite em up till they smoke like hell. Lauch at around 5800rpm, ride it out just a little. I usually average low 1.7 60'.

Question

Does BFG drag radials fit on the stock rims for an FD? I thought it doesn't fit on them. I hope it does, because I need a really good set of drag radials for some street racing I do on the weekends. I bought the Nitto's drag radials about a year ago and I really wasn't that impressed with them.

they only make on 16" tire and it fits....it kinda has a tall side wall so its not pretty but it works. I think its a 255/55/16

I'm running stock wheels and lowered a 1" or so and they fit fine.

So the BFG 255/50/16 will be O.K. on stock rims with stock suspension while running 225/50/16 on the front? Just want to make sure before any rubbing happens. Thanks guys. Does this sound like a good set-up for having fun street dragging? Don't worry closed street and a small town! Just want to start learning how to run this car!! Thanks a bunch!!!!P.S. Currently have about 275RWHP...

The only prob with running them around town is they only last around 2000 miles......the Nittos are almost as good and last 10-15K miles. The downfall of the Nittos is that you have to REALLY burn them out to stick like BFG's and you dont really need a burn out for bfg's.

2nd gear??? Are you able to spin the tires on second gear? I thought it should be in first gear not second.

Upshift. Spin 'em up in 1st gear, then very quickly shift up to 2nd.

I've been told that dry hops (test launches) aren't the best thing because they take some of the heat out of the tires. Every time I try doing that my launches suck afterwards. OTOH, if it works for you then go for it.

- PJ (does 8500rpm 2nd-gear burnouts.... only 150bhp, no line loc )
