Any possible Way to Get a BP through Smog?

Any possible Way to Get a BP through Smog?

Hey all, I live in Oregon and am going to be having a go fast engine built for my car this summer (it will be done by Pineapple). The ? I have is there any way to get a BP through a Dyno Smog test? I was thinking that maybe a partial bridge on the secondary ports with a Microtech and a different intake manifold might do it.
I am shooting for 200-250 hp at the wheels and don't really want to go to the trouble of building a turbo, plus I figured a turbo would be a LOT harder to handle on a road corse/the back roads. Any one have any comments on either topic?

keep your stock engine and swap it. the bp has too much overlap to pass smog

The best solution that I can think of but haven't tried yet is to build a small tubular insert that installs in the port runner in the engine. It would go just deep enough to cover the bridge but not interfere with the main port. If you have a bridgeport then you probably don't have it too difficult when it comes to pulling off the intake manifold. If you have a stock manifold you don't want a bridgeport anyways.

I don't think a turbo is hard to drive at all. I know many people that do road course events with them. It all depends on how well the total system was designed. I've seen a few problems with stock 3rd gen twin setups since the 2nd turbo likes to suddenly jump in during the middle of a slower corner. This gets the back a little squirrely. You are only looking for 200-250 hp. You can use a small turbo that spools early and never have a problem. You could go very easy on the porting style too which will give you a much broader and useable powerband. You could pass emissions, still maintain a degree of fuel efficiency, and still have the power you needed. the thing about a bridgeport even a small one is that to take full advantage of it you need to change your gear ratios to suit your powerband. You'll need a decent size bridge but not huge to get to 250 hp. Your gas mileage will go out the door, your emissions will be terrible, you will lack low end power which is harder to drive if you come to a corner where your gearing isn't just right for your setup. There are so many more things to worry about when getting more radical with porting. Just making ports bigger doesn't neccesarily make youfaster and it definitely doesn't make your car more reliable. I love the sound of a good bridgeport and they are just wonderfully fun but for your needs I personally don't think it is the best thing. Then again maybe you'll love it!

I had thought of soemthing like that, but perminent, with an acutator so you could slide it out to reveal the port , or in to cover it, kinda like 6-ports.

When you make your downpipe weld a threaded bung to accept a sparkplug. Wire up an auxillary coil to feed the fire to the plug. Try to locate the sparkplug or disquise it with some exhaust wrap so it looks like an extra O2 sensor or something.
Fire that bad boy off and hope like hell the flame is not making it all the way out the tips. That is one reason you want it fairly close to the motor. Unless you are burning really rich that will not happen.
I would suggest wiring a switch in so this is not working all the time. Your exhaust system will not be too happy with a constant flame running through it.
You may want to use an anti-plug fouler and you will probably get it through many inspections using the same plug.
