This is somewhat true. My motor was rebuilt with pretty good condition housings. I now have 90PSI on both rotors using RA Super Seals with 5k miles.

Did you use stock apex seal springs or RA ones?
What was the compression after you built it and broke it in?
Are you running pre-mix or stock OMP? This is 2mm RA super seals I assume?

lets keep this thread going, i am currently shopping for 3mm seals for a motor im putting together.. its a S4 motor that will be pushing 600whp and up, around 25-30 psi. I was told to use RA super seals or seals from rx7 specialties in canada and also was recommended the ALS seals. It seems as though everyone has mixed opinions on which are the best..However i have not heard much about the rx7 specialties seals, can anyone who has actually used them give some feedback?

EDIT: just check the ALS site and all they list are 2mm seals?? do they make 3mm?

I believe I read somewhere that they will soon be manufacturing 3mm seals to fill that market...

Let me break it down for you.

Seals that withstand detonation- None!
Seals that will withstand excessive heat- Factory seals, Ceramics.
Seals that will possibly destroy parts if broken- Factory seals, Ceramics.
Seals that will not shatter and damage parts- Any "unbreakable seal".
Seals that will scratch the rotor housings- Any "unbreakable seal"
Seals that will warp at high temps- Any "unbreakable seal"

There is no perfect seal for every situation. Usually the unbreakable seals are run in motors that are going to be run at or close to the limits of detonation where the danger of breaking a factory or ceramic seal is very close, or when the car has recently been built and the bugs are not worked out. A lot of time people will use unbreakable seals until the engine is perfectly tuned and all the bugs are worked out. Then they will install a harder seal like the factory or ceramics. They make different seals for different situations, you just need to pick the ones that best suite your needs.

25 PSI on pump gas and you think there is no chance of detonation??? Go with the ALS seals!

Rx7 specialties seals are basically the same as the RA super seals with identical material, manufacturing process, and same manufacturer.

Clarification needed:

If the compression is at 90 psi now still, then why do you say that it's losing compression?

Thanks for your input.

lol no i didnt say there isnt any chance of detonation, what i meant is this car is set up almost perfectly with tune and supporting mods..any engine can detonate, i just worded it that way because the one guy said if im going to be doing rough tuning with a greater chance of detonation then go with the als or ra. Im running a pretty bad *** meth setup so 25 on pump isnt scaring me to much..

When I was building my motor the ALS were on a pretty long backorder and I already had a set of the RA Black super seals at the shop so that's what I used, along with stock springs.

Ken Scheepers, rx7store, and Banzai Racing have all had positive experiences with them so I'll keep my fingers crossed

do you know if the early ra seals were different? ive heard the old style was too soft and they would wear very fast, but ive also heard that the new ones have been changed, can anyone confirm that?

I didnt say losing compression. I just expected the compression to improve after break in but it did not.

Ive heard rumors that the old RA seals were way too soft and wore quickly, but i also heard that they have changed the design and the new ones are much better, can anyone confirm that??
