250HP Street Port

Let me try this again in this section. My first post was in the ECU forum - No reply.

I would like to get opinions of how much HP could be seen from a proper built streetport race motor. The class limits me to a StreetPort. Induction system is completely open - minus forced induction.

The other engine option is a Bridgeport (What every body else runs) but the regulated carb is small. 48 IDA with 34 MM venturis. This should put you at the 230 to 240 HP range.

I have done a few streetport engines, the last made 244hp on an accurate engine dyno. Spec's are as follows: 13B extended, monsterstreetport (Intake closes at 70 degree) 51mm Weber IDA carb w/45mm chokes, MSD direct fire on leading still a distributor set up! Hurley race apex seals 3mm stock 74-78 rotors, 54mm id header 700mm long w/ 3" Apple racing muffler and some tuning! peak hp was at 7800 rpm Torque 170 ft/lb at 7200 rpm. Oh, almost forget the intake manifold was from Australia which flowed 30% better than Racing Beats manifold (which now is out of production) I think there should be no problem building a 260 hp streetport motor if you use distriburless ignition and a straight manifold with twin 45 mm Weber dcoe carbs or better fuel injection. Hope this will help you some.

I've seen a 220rwhp street port that was also dynoed on an engine dyno and was putting out 255 to 260 hp.

Great info guys. A Bridgported 12A is the engine of choice for most of the cars in the class. My feeling is that the mandated carb is a restrictor.

I thought and seem to have been backed up that I can make the same amount of HP with the streetport on FI.

The class is "C" sports racer. A small purpose built tube chassis with open cockpit, closed wheel body. Think a 1000 pound version of LeMans LMP class.

We are going to run two cars here in the South East. I already have a Bridgeport to run in one of them. I would like to run the Streetport engine program in the other to develop the HP.
