13b project motor

i have an '86 n/a. whil tuming around town i met a guy with a spare core motor. he said that he will sell it for 50 bones. so now i have an extra 13b sitting around. it is a cool conversational piece, but i want to make use of it. first how do i tell if it was a turbo or not(probably not one though) s4 or s5? and if it was yours what would you do? i want to get templates and port it, but is that hard for a guy that has never done anything like that? basically im looking for ideas and what to look for when im tinkering with it.

It's hard to distingush between an s4 and s5 simply by looking at the short block (assuming that's what you mean by core).

As for turbo or N/A, count the intake ports on the side of the block, N/A will have 6 intake ports, turbo will have 4.

turbo engine is a 4 port design and non turbo is a 6 port design. series 4 vs a series 5 non turbo. the series 5 has a threaded hole in top of trailing spark plug for the knock sensor the series 4 does not have that threaded hole.

Why would you want to tinker with it? You're just going to get frustrated, scrape your knuckles, and waste some money.

I'll send you $100, we can ship the engine to me, so basically when all is said and done, you will have done no work to make a profit of $50.

This would be a move a very smart businessman would make! PM me when you want to exchange shipping information.

air pump and cats. i dont think that there is anything else to remove that really effects performance. if you take off the airpump you will need a block off plate.
