12a build/installation options/questions

Hi all,

I'm in the beginning stages of putting a rotary into a VW Type 3 Fastback that I picked up for free, with a solid body but a dead motor. Ignoring the possibility that I'll kill the transmission (In fact I'm pretty sure I will at some point, but that's not the end of the world) I'm looking at my options. here's what I've come up with.

Base point: 12a, street (or possibly bridge) port, freshly rebuilt from used but good parts provided by one of my rotorhead friends. Bridge is an option because this car is just going to be a weekend/summer night cruiser, for the most part. Some "from a roll" races may occur, but nothing from a dead dig because I KNOW the tranny would puke over that. Should I stick with street or go bridge? How loud are they compared to each other?

Now, for accessories I'm thinking alternator and water pump... and that's about it. I'm basically going to start with the "keg" and work from that. Premixing isn't a hassle because it won't be a daily driver, and there's more than enough room in the front of the car to keep a couple of cans of 2-stroke for when a fillup is needed.

Exhaust... I'm going to see if I can fit an RB header under the VW, if so then I'll be running that into a rather short exhaust system that will end up exiting from the side of the car. If not I'm not sure what I'd do, any suggestions? I suppose a custom header isn't that out of the question but I'd like to avoid that.

Intake... staying carbed for simplicities sake, what are my options? If I go street port, what will I need to use? bridge port?

And that's it, really. Cooling system is nearly sorted out, just need to figure out if I want to cut up the front of this (very nice) car to provide air for the radiator or if I want to duct air from the bottom of the car.

Am I missing anything obvious? I haven't touched on electrical stuff, but should I try to convert to direct fire ignition or just use the stock setup for simplicities sake in this already fun install? I should be able adapt the stock VW wiring harness for everything electrical I SHOULD need, but is there anything an air-cooled VW won't have that I NEED? (Coolant temp gauge not counting, that's already waiting to be installed.)

Just looking for opinions on my project and my plans right now. Even if you think it's a horrible idea.
