1/8 Mile times and some questions.

OK here are my mods.

Streetport by Atkins
XS T04E single
RS Akimoto Intercooler
1300 secondaries
Competition Fuel Pump
Full Exhaust
PFC and Commander
Greddy pully kit
And so on and so on.

Just a couple of weeks ago I went to a local drag race on an airport. There were about a 100 cars of so there. Mostly vetts, mustangs, GTOs and older muscle cars. I was in the sub compact division with only 7 other cars. A 87 Nissan Pulsar, 94 Civic with nos, 94 300ZX TT tuned by stillen, a stock 95 accord and some other hondas. I ended up taking second because I broke out of my time on the last run, but I pretty much kicked all their asses. The 300 was my toughest run but I beat him. Anyway here are my times.
By the way it was only an 1/8 mile strip. It was my first time running on a tree but I got used to it on my second pass. I didnt have a lot of wheel spin but I still cant get a good launch or get my 60 ft time down. My first two runs were just time trials.

1st Trial Run

2.419 60 ft
73.28 MPH
9.453 MPH

On that run I missed third and got a bad light

2nd Trial Run against a 69 Camaro

2.551 60 ft
85.22 MPH
9.229 ET

3rd Run vs. Accord

0.820 -- Reaction -- 0.512
2.623 -- 60 ft -- 2.234
63.74 -- MPH -- 59.52
11.072 -- ET -- 9.291

As you can tell on all my runs I hit the brakes at the end just before I crossed the line so not to break out.

4th Run vs. 300ZX TT

1.301 -- Reaction -- 0.511
2.617 -- 60 ft -- 2.579
73.89 -- MPH -- 60.07
9.972 -- ET -- 10.022

Again I hit my brakes just before the end.

5th Run vs. Pulsar

0.854 -- Reaction -- 0.675
2.576 -- 60 ft -- 2.287
60.00 -- MPH -- 69.33
11.459 -- ET -- 9.013

On that run I hit the brakes again but I didnt think I was running that fast. My dial in was 9.15.

But anyway those were my times running 12 psi. So how do I get my 60 ft time down? And can you kinda guess what rwhp Im running by this?

Thanks a lot guys. Just thought Id share.

Re: 1/8 Mile times and some questions.

nope because both your ET and mph were inconsistent simply because you brake at the end. You won't be able to determine your estimated hp of your car. If you could make a full 1/8 mile pass. Add 25mph to that and use the formula below, it should be close to your rwhp.

(mph/234)^3 * weight of your car = rwhp

to give you an example...let's say your car weights 3000lbs with you in it and your trap speed at the 1/8 is 90mph.

you add 25mph to 90mph to yield 115mph (estimated 1/4 trap speed).

you enter

(115/234)^3 * 3000lbs

This should give you an estimated rwhp of 356rwhp

so assuming your 85mph trap speed was legit and no mis-shift, your estimated rwhp is approximately 311rwhp assuming your car w/ you in it is 3000lbs.

Hope that helps

Steve

BTW - Steve, do you know of a rule of thumb or formula to figure a possible 1/8 or 1/4 based on a mph.

In other words if someone ran a good mph with a bad et is the a way to figure what they COULD have ran based on that mph???

Thanks,
STEPHEN

You can estimate your ET based on your hp and you can determine the hp based on your mph. I don't remember what the formula was but I know that there're a few sites out there that can calculate it for you.
