$50 K&N or cheap ebay filter?

I am either going to get a k&N filter or a cheap on off ebay. I already have everything I need except the actual filter. Which would you suggest? I can just go out & get the K&N one right this second.

Have you? Thats one of the reasons I was going to get the K&N. I figured it gave better flow than some cheap no-name one. Someone hurry up and respond cuz I can go get a K&N one right now if someone convinces me. The warranty is what I like. & having a good brand makes me feel better about my purchase.

Yea over the No-Name filters, K&N has WAY better air flow...but compared to high performance like APEXi or HKS I do not think that K&N is as good...

I use K&N in my box filter and noticed a little better air flow form the stock one....(didn't fell a power gain worth mentioning...box to box...BAH)

I have heard the same about them being restrictive too. Personally i think its a bunch of

Point in case: my friend has a K&N inverted top filter on his Supra that is seeing 20+ PSI at the track! He has no problems with flow at all. And that is only with one filter.

I could see the standard K&N's being restictive on high boost application but the inverted top give the filter a much larger area of filter material. So im planning on building my own intake using two of the Inverted top filters.

Check out the website posted in the Intake Poll in the Performance Mods: it describes (from the vendors point of view) the advantages/disadvantages of all the major filters.

It appears that only the cheap ones use paper, all the good ones are using mesh.
