cool thanks for backing me guys I've been wanting some video footage of this or at least some kill stories. I saw one fc vs. fd video and the fd owned the tII but then again the fd was highly modified while the tII looked to be pretty much stock.

That sucks! I'm sure there are plenty of killer fc's out there that would own a 3rd gen. I need to find a 3rd gen to see how I would compare, I think I could hold my own.

A buddy of mine was in my TII and raced me in my FD.

The TII was lightened some, no ac, ps, bumper support, etc. It weighed 2600lbs, scale verified. Mods were cone filter, full exhaust (3" straight pipe cat-back, no cats), FCD and a FD fuel pump.

The FD was stock with DP, CB and efini y-pipe. Weight was 2800lbs.

From ~40mph to 90-100mph the TII pulled about 1 car length, after that the FD crept away. The TII is forced to shift earlier and that made a difference at the higher speed.

We tried it twice, the TII would pull ahead until about 100 mph.

I had one in california, that was a funny one. This kid must have been about 18 or so. He just kinda looked over at me with a goofy eye'd look. I dont think he knew that they made fc's like that :-p

But we get lined up at about 20mph and I let him gun it. He guns it, I gun it, gain a few cars on him by then top of 3rd.

Now that I think about it though, there is one time when a fd did beat me out. However, my defense was, at the time my t2 was completely stock. There was a NW drive through the mountains, about 15 rx7s. Me and this fd were leading the pack, going up hill, on the side of a mountain pass. Big looooong consistant turn. Taking it at about 100mph, my tires were hopping to the side. I was at the limit of my car... And this fd behind me, pulls to the outside and passes me on the turn. The whole time I was yelling at him .... After that I started modding.

I'll try to get some video of my fc beating on some fds. Its just hard to track down willing fd owners. They dont like to get beat, they are like mustang owners. If they dont race, they never lose! :-D

Ya the FD crowd somtimes does somtimes look down its nose at the FC crowd. Even though I do know some cool FD owners. My conclusion is a FC can beat a FD. I will race a FD with my FC it just boils down to mods. Most FC guys are cheap (including me ). Usually they dont have the kinda $$ the FD owners have. However a with similar mods the FD really has no advantage weights are similar, once you start modding the FCs 182 HP really no longer matters. Nor does the FDs 255 HP. Once you consider RB exhaust alone puts you at like 240. Dollar for Dollar the the FC will for sure win. For example if 2 people are given $20k and told to see who can build the quickest/fastest car the FC is gonna win. You can buy a decent FC for like $3k and sink $17k into mods, The FD guys gotta put up around $12k just for the car that will leave them with about $8k for mods. If course we all know you can find a FD for $9500 and stuff, you can also find a TII for $1500. I am talking cars you dont mind being seen in though or are not a total basket case. Anyway I will give the FD the looks, but I really see no edge performance wise. It just depends on how the car was built and whos behind the wheel.

Pull your heads out of the clouds, o' FC dreamers!

Look, I owned an '86 FC and WELL know the performance. And it is not even night and day in comparison to the FD. More like.....Venus and Pluto....lol!

usmcjsy: THIS statement,

perplexes me. Are you saying the Racing Beat exhaust on a TII or on a NA 13B gives you 240 hp? Because I have never seen ANYTHING like that advertised in ANY of their catalogs, for EITHER car!

Look, I am not a "FD snob", I still really like the FC and the FB for that matter, they are all cool kick-*** cars. But let's not get TOO carried away, okay? I am sure that there are some really fast and quick FCs out there, and kudos to the guys that built them for sure. It is a great platform to work with. And there isn't any reason for ANYONE to stick their nose up at a nicely done FC (or any other car for that matter) that has TRUE performance.
