omni street racing w/ vids

_________________________________

first and the one that i wanted most was a 2005 cadillac cts-v with a full exhaust and intake. he has a 150 shot sitting in a box at home but its not in the car yet.. the outcome would have been quite a bit different if he sprayed me im sure

http://we-todd-did-racing.com/wetodd...EzZGZkMzF5NTQx

the finish line was my friend sitting on the side of the road with his 3000gt vr4 at the 1/4 mile mark. i lost this race by inches.. you can see the vr4 flash by for a billionth of a second. he was writing down the margin of win/loss and wrote this as 1/4th of a car. i had a passenger obviously, i likely would have beaten him by inches if i went alone, but then i wouldnt have this super cool video to share would i

___________________________________

the next race is with a black 2005 srt-4 acr

http://we-todd-did-racing.com/wetodd...EzZGZkMzF5NTQx

this one wasnt nearly as exciting.. i kicked his *** pretty badly. if he had soem sticky tires it would have been better, but my omni is just faster than a stock srt4. well.. i dont think its 100% stock, but its mods are limited at best.. i really dont know any details about the car, he is sort of new to our little scene.. fun run either way, ive been after a good srt4 race for a while. our score keeper had this one at 3-4 cars for me.. its harder to tell since i didnt have my passenger this time. note the truck passing through at the end of the vid.. no one bothered to mention this to us while we were lining up

_______________________________________

next we have my friend from our local board steve in his 2004 mach 1 stang. i believe he has an exhaust and a better than stock intake as well. its 90% stock.

http://we-todd-did-racing.com/wetodd...EzZGZkMzF5NTQx

this one was a lot of fun since he is a large shittalker on our local board its all in good fun, he is a good guy, but i did enjoy getting him in a really solid run mwahaha.. his best time is a 13.5 i believe. scorekeeper had this one at 1 car for me

_______________________________________

and finally we have my buddy justin in his 98 gtp.

http://we-todd-did-racing.com/wetodd...EzZGZkMzF5NTQx

i actually feel kind of bad about this one, because his gtp is quick, and he had just picked it up earlier in the day from having a fully race built tranny put into it.. valve body mods, shorter gears, cryo treatment, higher stall.. the works.. he also has a full exhaust with the u bend removed, smaller pulleys for i think ~11 psi, a chip.. its easily the most modded of the 4 cars i got to run. i ran him from a stop and it was even worse than this, so just the roll on is up. this was from 20 mph. no score keeper for either of these runs but it was by several cars both times obviously

my omni is an 86 glht
2.2 stock tI bottom end with 120k on it
stock garrett at 18 psi
small npr i/c 2.5" mandrel piping for it
mp stg II ecu
2.5" mandrel exhaust, no cat, no mufler
a555
+20 injectors, afpr
poly front end and mounts
lots of other little stuff

its not a beater actually, i paid 400$ to have it shipped to me from the desert hehe.. its totally rust free.. the cleanest omni ive ever seen. ive had 4 of them and this one is pristine heh.. at least as far as omnis go.

turbo omnis are the most fun cars to drive that ive ever experienced.. they are gokarts. plus the looks on peoples faces after they see what it can do are always golden its not so much of a sleeper anymore after that stupidass article in scc, i had every ricer in town swarming me for the month that thing was around... the gold car is very nice and fast but its pretty different than mine.. 2.5 n/a converted.. i like it a lot less after all the exposure it gave mine heh

it weighs 2400 with me in it and puts down close to 250 to the wheels. not too bad for an 8 valve terd. next spring my built motor, t3/t4 50 trim and auto 3 speed are going in. hoping for mid 11's

mwahaha

That's a wierd car. I know what you mean about liking the feeling of a small car though. It's not only that it's small, but how close you sit to the front wheels and how high up you are. It really puts you in control doesn't it?

yep, the hood is fairly short so you feel right up on the road. with all of my poly bushings and mounts and mopar autox springs its a really tight fun car to drive. my friends gvr4 runs a little bit faster than me, but driving my car and then his and you would swear that the omni would kick his *** easily.. the sound and feel of it are really pretty sweet.

a 2.5" straightpipe on an 8 valve 2.2 is a thing of beauty.. the turbo dodge motors are easily the coolest sounding turbo 4 cylinder that ive ever heard.. its really unique.. sounds like a semi around town and a spaceshuttle under boost

That is one badass sleeper for sure!!!! I like the fact that you got a USA built turbo 4 kicking ***!!!!!(with 4 doors no less!!!) Judging by the launch, and the three speed swap in the future, I am guessing it is RWD?! Every one of the cars were chasing you, that car leaves pretty good!

i wish it was rwd. its fwd on the biggest tires i could stuff in there.. 225/50/15 bfg drag radials. they are easily the biggest gain ive gotten out of the car in a single mod.. somewhat sticky tires arent really an option on turbo omnis heh. i was running 15's at 101 mph the last time i went to the track because i was spinning uncontrollably through third heh.. im going to get some sticky wrinkly tires for it next year to really launch the **** out of it, but as it sits now i can pull pretty good off the line. i havent been to the track since the drag radials and a few other things, but id guess my short times on the DR's are around 2 flat.

all of the other cars i ran that night were on street tires but its not as big off a difference on a rwd car as it was on the omni.. the dodge turbo motors make all of their torque pretty much right off the line, and in a 2400lb fwd terd well... traction sucks ha.

As a wise man once said, "You can polish a turd as much as you want, but in the end.... well its still a turd" but of course he never saw an omni kick this much *** lol! OMG! I was crying laughing, you know all of the people you raced felt like they suck *** afterwards.... you probably made the guy in the caddy impotent lol! thats one of those things you lock in the back of your mind and never speak of again.... you got props from me, I dont know if you saw my other post but a friend of mine tubbed a chevette and a pinto and I think he was dropping in 327's dont remember but it was so funny, I rode with him in the Pinto and he would roll up on corvette's and blow them away. I would laugh my *** off, anyway like I said good job man

with all the mods he had on that gtp sure didn't lool like they worked. With the one i had. i just put a samller pulley, thrasher intake, msd wires and coil packs and ngk iridium plugs. I was already down in the high 13's and i didn't even tune the motor or the other fun add on's. I would deffinitly have a look and make sure thier is nothing wrong.

no hes quick, but a 12 second 5 speed car on sticky tires going from the best place in its gearing and powerband is a lot faster

the omni is a ******* rocket off of a 30 roll in second, floor it, pop the clutch out and it will break your neck... totally instant torque, hp, boost.. its pretty crazy from that range

i think he actually did a bit better from a stop, i know i kicked his *** both times but dont really remember, he says it was by 4 or 5 cars from a stop.. and i think he gave up on the roll after i put the first battleship length on him ha

hes a good friend of mine and the car is pretty quick.. i think around 13.6 or 7 or so now on street tires

haha and why exactly is that? id be more scared of blowing a rotary up than blowing an omni up

i think the only thing under the hood that is stock at this point is the block and its internals. its the cleanest omni ive ever seen in person, turbo or not

the suspension, bushings, motor mounts, tranny and clutch, head, turbo, axles, tires, exhaust, ignition system, fuel system, intake, intercooler... basically everything is fresh, and compression is 152 across the board. its fast and i bet it could outhandle a stock or even mildly modded fd

Thats a lot of work put into that car. And its probably the most awesome sleeper I have ever seen.
I guess I'm just in awe that someone actually took time to make a nice Omni, and it worked.

I've seen a couple of worked over LeBaron GTSs and a Daytona or two, but I think you have the only fast Omni Turbo I've ever seen.

haha thanks

turbo omnis are incredibly rare, but they are out there. i own one of the very few 86 glh turbo's that exists and isnt rotted out and beat to ****.. they are the original turbo hatch.. every time you see a turbo civic just remember that an omni did it first

the 8v heads flow like ****, but in a 2200 lb car 250hp is good for 12's. the lebarons, daytonas, shadows, minivans etc.. all use the same basic 2.2/2.5 turbo setup. just about every car chrysler offered in the 80's had a turbo variant. the omnis are the least common and best performing of them all due to their light weight.

i love my little dumpster haha
