a buddy of mine has a '97 acura integra...he talks up his car like its the fastest thing in the world. Anyways he wants to race me. I have a n/a 89 s5 gtu with jus a hks intake n 2.5" exhaust, everything else is stock pretty much (not exactly sure, just bought the car). All i kno about his car is that its a vtech, 2.5" exhaust, aftermarket headers, and thats about it...

my 2 questions...

1. in a race, who would win?
2. if he can take me, what upgrades should i get for it to be a close race if not beat him?

i dont have tons of money to drop a turbo or anything like that, but what would be my best bet?

 

I say you should learn how to drive and launch it, get to know your car. I got a buddy with a stock *** Rex that took an H22 eg6, he just knows that car inside and out. I ran a bad *** built SeR with like crazy a crazy *** tune and he had some cams and the normal bolt ons, i took him off the line and won by a fender, note I had a GTU with a an exhaust, header and intake. So just get to know your car

 

race him from a dig=D DO a few practice launches till you find the right rpms to launch at.

From a roll the integra has the advantage. From a dig you should have it. (even more so if you have LSD)

 

I started with a 4 door auto civic, I just knew better than to involve it in any sort of racing.

I can see it being pretty even from a roll.
From a dig it all depends on who launches better, and if you have a crappy launch he will beat you.

Still it all depends on the driver. My buddy's girlfriend had a 4 door automagic Civic that she let me race over the hill. It did alright, just pulled the ebrake during excessive understeering. All in all her civic sucked lol.

 

im not looking to get into any sort of racing, he's just curious how well my 7 will hold up with his... Im not real big into racin or whatever so he runs his mouth to try n get me to do it...

before i race him im deffinitly goin to want to get to know my car...its not like im goin to race him the first time that i drive it...
i did race him on a straight away with my 4 door pontiac grand prix, lol, we went back n forth winning...

guess im jus goin to have race him n see what the outcome's like...

either way, i agree w/ the guy who suggested sabotage. not only will your friend probably be physically incapable of running his mouth any more, but you get tons of *** in the end from his mom and g/f.

on a serious note, with all else equal, i dont think you'd win, but the driver makes all the difference.

Hey man I am not being a smart ***. One thing you gotta learn in life is if you are not cheating you are not trying hard enough. Another piece of wisdom I have for you is if you're going to race him. Have as little gas in your tank as possible. I believe each gallon weights close to eight pounds. 13 gallons times 8 equals like 104 pounds. Even if you lose, challenge him to a donut contest, then call him a ***** for driving a FWD car when he says no.

 

Since Integras didnt come VTEC unless its a GSR or Type R I'd say its swapped which means you'll lose. Good luck.

 

its a gsr...but he says the whole motor is stock...

jared- im not saying your being a smart *** or anything, just some people leave some stupid comments that they should just keep to themself...I'm deffinitly trying to cheat, i wanna find out some things that i can do to try n get every bit of more HP i can so i can beat him, he thinks that my whole car is stock, im looking to put some aftermarket headers on it n try to find some other stuff without him knowing...

 

It could also be an ls/vtec which is a "poor mans GSR" swap.

How is someone with a stock GSR a ricer?
Racing for fun with your buddy doesnt make you a ricer, neither does owning a Honda, contrary to everyones belief here.

 

Yeah with those mod's on his car and considering if it is a vtec model he should get you easy once you guy's hit 60 or so. You need to get some bolt on's,lightweight fly and some sticky tires and race him from a dig you will be suprised how well you will do with a good launch and sticky tires.

 

just give in and go turbo already dude! its the only way you will stand a chance against anything oher than NA I4's. unless you have a bp'ed motor or an NA 20B.

i also agree w/ 2rotors: just because one owns a typically ricer car doesnt make them a ricer. theres a guy here locally with an EG civic hatch thats done really nicely. premium parts used everywhere, clean and fast too. i mean he's still a *** for driving an FF car, but hes no ricer, i assure you.
