My 94 Single VS STS Turbo Z28 Camaro

I was at the local hangout last wednesday night with a bunch of guys i know and this camaro pulled up and i thought nothing of it. He was there for 15 min and then leaves. He pulls out of the parking lot with a passenger and floors it. Immediately 30people turn their heads to the sound of a v8 with a turbo.
He comes back 15 minutes later and everyone flocks to his car, but he didn't open the hood, instead he opens the trunk and there sits a gt42 turbo. It was about the size of a gallon milk jug. Started talkin and he agreed to a run, but he would only go from a 50mph roll. I agreed
Started out in second and he was doing the beeping, he went before the 3rd beep but i was right there. Through second gear it was dead even, 3rd gear i pulled a fender and i told my passenger that i would get him in fourth.
Shifted to fourth and inched away. At the end of 4th i had 1 to 1.5 cars on him.
He was extreemly impressed with the rotary.
I have only had the car since january. I am running a T61 at 16 psi. 550/1600 with a 10.5 afr at wot. Had it tuned last month at BPR in Salem MA and put down only 338whp but the owner assured me of a 120mph trap speed. His dyno read extreemly low and he told me before we did the tuning to only expect around 340. He tuned a T78 and it put down 350 and another T88 that put down 410 and ran a 10.8@135. So i guess if i brought it to a dynojet or something i could expect 375-390whp.

turbo in the trunk??

any turbo V8 should be putting down at least 500-600 hp or the owner is clueless...any one of the supercharged F bodies I've bumped into would smoke a 340 hp FD from a 50 mph roll

first off i wanna congradulate you on your kill. second the turbo in the rear of the car setup is a rather nice piece. i almost installed one on my 99 ws6. the base kit gives you over 400whp with thier computer set up and that is it. total cost for me installed would have been 4200. These may be poping up more frequintly as turbos are being descovered as a great source of power even for the muscle car guys. so if you hear a v8 that sounds like a jet taking off. make sure that you can either beat him or you do not mind lossing and consider it a learning experiance. However this just means everyone needs to go get thier motors ported and run some nice size turbos. especially if they dare do it from a 50mph roll, that was ultimatly his downfall.

Here are the details on the sts kit http://www.ststurbo.com/lt1_camaro_

They claim about 400whp and i think that is accurate with the results of this race.
I live about 1 hr west of worcester
I'll bring a vid camera this week and maybe i'll run into him again

That's awesome. You have one fast FD for certain.

It's good to see real dyno numbers too. One of the shops here had a low corrected 400s HP car on their Mustang dyno a while back. They then took it right over to a Dynojet and put down 615. Pretty funny hey?

Why type of dyno did you tune on?
