Me vs fd vs mr2 turbo

This was yesterday

After coming home from the mall my friend and I (me in vr4 him in fd) stop at a left turn red light with 2 lanes. Ive got my girl with me and hes got his, We just actually just got done being harassed by a chopper a bike and a highly modified eg6. The FD said he ran against the civic but i dont think he did, i was in front of the two.... anyways

Were at the red light with 2 lanes and were talking about what just happend and a very clean silver mr2 rolls up behind the fd, hes on the innermost lane im on the outer. We see him and i try to get my friend to run me on after we take the turn, its not nessasarily a straight away but its got no cars and light curves. When it turns green i get into 1st normally and when i get to second i go to 3.5k to show some spool and when i get out of the intersection i punch it and im ahead by 5-6 cars but the fd isnt going so I slow down and just as i do he guns it and passes me with the mr2 following. I drop gear to 2nd at 30 mph and I haul after them. I gain ground on the mr2 quickly (still in my right lane the 2 in the left) and Im neck and neck with the mr2. There is a minivan up ahead so i slow down enough so i can get right behind the mr2 in the left lane. When the van is clear I move back to the right and pass him with ease. I playfully flashed my hazards and then we get to a light and im next to the fd again and the mr2 is behind the fd again. We both laugh and talk about it and he says he killed us both wich isnt true because i slowed down to about 1.5k rpm and he passed me in a full 2nd gear haul. He did dust the mr2 though. Then i try to get the fd to go from a dig (ha ha) he wouldnt do it, the mr2 gives us a thumbs up and takes a u turn. Nice guy looked like he was in his early 20s.

fd was 2 days fresh from the shop with pulleys exhaust, mid pipe, bc, vac lines, fuel injectors, non seq stocks, intake some other stuff. Mr2 had aftermarket exhaust and maybe more who knows and was in very good condition, looked brand new. Not the latest gen mr2 the one before it. lol. and me as you all know... stock. Well if it means anything im getting my temp tags off in a week ha ha.

sorry for poor explaination

VR4's are heavy cars though, i drove a friends when they first got it a few years ago, before she totaled it. Decent pick up but felt sluggish once above 40~50mph. They can be fast as hell though, but thats besides the point. A stock FD vs. a Stock VR4 would be a close race but a modified FD vs. a stock VR4 would be a joke....no competition there. Where in Va are you Henessey?

unfortunatley from a 40 mph+ roll it lacks. Its a good concept awd tt car, but i honestley think they ignored the weight because it was fast from a standstill. With medium weight mods (with a livable interior) its about 3450-3500. LOL. Still like the car, best thing i could get under 7k. I plan on getting no more than 550whp, after that its very expensive to mod. so low 11s aint bad!

I right across 50 by fair oaks mall, i can see it from my house. Do you by any chance work behind the dennys on the 123 and 29 intersection?

Hey, hate to resurrect such an old thread but I was just searching for MR2 kills and came across this thread, and realized I was the one in the MR2!

I remember that day pretty well.. I had just washed her and I was out looking for some runs when I saw you and the FD flying past me so I pulled a U turn and chased after you guys. That's when we got to the light as you mentioned and we all got on it. I knew I wouldn't hang with either of you but it was definitely fun with the three of us going full throttle. I've got intake/exhaust but both cats are still in place so my exhaust is pretty useless for now. I remember I ran into you in my neighborhood the next week as well, heh. Both the 3KGT and the FD looked stunning, had to say.

Here's a pic of my MR2:

It's got about 156k miles on it but it's still running very strong. I plan on upping the boost from 8psi (stock) to 12-14 later this year. I'll have to PM you guys so we can see how much of a difference it makes... everyone tells me the MR2 "comes alive" after 12psi so I'm excited.

Once again, great run... and I hope to see you guys around again.

Well, I was actually just looking to see how our cars (FB/FC/FD - MR2T) compared to one another with different mods, but it was a pleasant surprise just the same. I don't come across enough 7's to find out in person unfortuntely.

We should go at it again when i get back, let us know how things are going, take it easy.
