Lost to a Civic

I haven't been feeling to good in the past days, so I thought that a nice ride on my RX7 would do me some good. While been on the HWG I spotted a nice red Prelude (95 or so) but he wouldn't race me, so I got tire of following him and took the next exit. While waiting on a red light at the exit a (93-95) civic SI hatchback pull next to me and ask if I want to run, so I said sure. We get into the HWG again, side by side and start the race in sencond (I was at least) @ 3000rpm....ooohhh **** he got 1/2 car on me instantly. Shift to third at 8000 rpm and I'm still 1/2-3/4 cars behind............NNNNNoooooooooooooooo

So the guy slow down and we go again under the same circumstances, but still the results where the same. His car wasn's charged, maybe nos, engine transplant, or Hybrid...dunno

Anyways things that I noticed while racing him:

1-He was shifting before me @ redline (I could hear him hitting the rev limiter)

2-There wasn't any backfire (my car wasn't backfiring either)

3-After the race while cruising in the HWG, I noticed a poping sound from the exhaust (in the Honda SI)

4-I REALLY-REALLY hate loosing to a Honda

I have lost before to the newer Honda SI, but not a old style Honda...this suck!! On a positive note, I just talk to a friend who hangs at the ilegals and he told me not to worry. The civic that I race had a Integra engine swap on it, he mentioned a Vtec engine but to be honest I didn't heard any vtec sound. All in all I rather loose to the Type R again a million times than to loose to a Civic!!

hahahahaha, lol thats funny man, you lost to a Civic, maybe you should stay off the roads for a while, next thing you know a Metro will be kicking your butt, lol...

j/k man, take it easy, if you didnt have a look under the hood, then the Si might not have been an Si at all, maybe he dropped a H22 or a B18C5, and then he would SURELY KILL YOU easily...

The popping from a VTEC engine is usually because of increased compression (from the stock 9,4:1 to something around 10:1), by using competition flanges. If you didnt hear VTEC engaging, and you got killed, then only a H22 or a modded B18B would be able to do that...

No matter what we say here, Civs and Tegs can be made REALLY fast, using a good VTEC engine as base and taking it from there...

I can't say much for the Civivs and Integras around here, because all they do here is sticker the tar out of their cars. I can say that I have seen pretty fast Civics elsewhere, and an engine swap to a B18 is decent. There is a guy that I know that swapped a SOHC civic motor into his 1990 CRX and that thing is pretty fast. The power to weight ratio is really good.

I bet your rx7 was laughing to much to race. Mine does that sometimes. You have a dip in boost at 4500 rpm. So thats prollly why he was in front of you for a second. WHats funny is that the civic si can only do 120-130mph.
