Accidentally, as in OUT OF CONTROL. FWD is ok for DD but to try to mod it out is a waste.Minor additions to improve the car is ok, but only to a point.

Meaning i wasn't pulling the e-brake, the *** just kicked out while i was turning.

Yeah, it's a waste, it's hanging with what's renown as one of the best handling cars in the world.

And by the way, yes, i did lose control of the car and went into a ditch, i was on an S-turn, it kicked out at the first turn of the S, i countered it for the next part of the turn, gave it throttle to clear the straight between the turns and the car just lost moment and the nose went into a ditch. I tried treating it instictively like RWD, had it have been RWD, i wouldn't have went into a ditch. FWD will get oversteer, it's just very hard to control it, nothing like RWD, that's why people don't generally do it when they race. It's called "Off Throttle Oversteer", it can be done purposely in FWD.

First of all, that video is about as useful as a snooze alarm on a smoke detector. I'm assuming that civic is modified and the lotus is stock, so its comparing apples to oranges, I could make a kia go around a track as faster then an elise, so kias are better cars right? But lets assume the cars are both stock, there is no assuring both drivers are of equal skill both pushing equally hard. I could take a civic and run laps around an F40, while my grandma is sitting in the F40 trying to figure out what to do with the 3rd pedal. Of course I could get this fiasco on tape, and that makes the civic faster than an F40, damn I better go post it all over the internet to show everyone my amazing discovery.

Second of all, oversteer is just when your rear tires lose traction while your front tires still grip, understeer is the oppisite. The driving wheels have nothing to do with natural tendensices for a car to over/under steer, however, having more weight in the front then the back (read: hondas) will cause the car to plow foward inducing more understeer then a car thats actually balanced properly.

Anybody that has any idea how to drive will modify the suspension of their fwd car to balance this out, usauslly erroring towards the side of oversteer, as it is MUCH more desirable in a racing situation then understeer. Go find some autoxers of people that take fwd "handling" seriously, I bet they'll all be running fatty rear sway bars and stock/no fronts, or using spring rates and alignments to cancel out the understeer.

Go to an autox sometime and watch the faster civics run, you'll see plenty of oversteer, it is used in racing fwd cars, just as in any other car. You went into the ditch in your civic because you suck at driving, not because you tried "treating it like rwd" as opposed to treating in like fwd when you should slam on the brakes when it begins to rotate, right?

waste of time and hp? take a look at the crx in the video. it is making 250 whp, and if everything was bought already, it would take a few days to install everything in. it has a k20 motor swap from an integra type r (the newer ones) in japan. the whole process (including the chassis) would cost about 10k. the mods are basic I/H/E, ECU, cams, ITBS, and fuel mods. the car runs low 11's with drag tires, and again it should only take 2 or 3 days to complete the swap and install everything, while spending around 10k including the car. some of you guys will eventually find that you're just as low as the honda ricers who call domestic cars tin cans. there are fwd, 2.0l hondas out there that are now running in the low 8's, and still some of you will ignorantly go out and say how stupid they are for thinking that hondas are sport cars.

i would have loved to see that 2000 with the ITB's race
and if you can hold a car so it can do a burn out by holding it in place with a rope i dont think that is really a car lol but seriously they were pretty fast even though i think slicks and stripped out cars should stay on the track leave the street racing for people who really drive on the street IMO nice vid though

didn't read the rest of the posts so your question may have already been answered the s2k's engine rotates in the opposite directon of other honda engines so you need the uber expensive x-trac tranny to run the s2k's engine in FWD configuration.

All of the F-series engines rotate clockwise like normal engines making it able to be mounted to an F22 transmission (from an Accord or Prelude) and put into a FWD configuration. I'm too lazy to actually research how possible this is because i quite frankly don't care, i'll never do it.
