GSL SE vs Eclipse GT with mods.

my mods are light, rb header, rb springs andshocks, ful rb 2.5 exhaust, no cat and stripped of all sound deadening metal... anyway on to the kill

i noticed a crappy looking crx, i felt like i had to go run it since i just gave her a good tune up.

anyway, i got next to an eclipse i didnt want to run one, i figured i would lose...
well, he revs, i rev thinking, sure, why not...

well, i jump him off the lien and hold a car on him till 60, slow down, well we cruise a mile down the road and go from a 60 roll, dropped from 5th to 3rd, and pull ahead a car immediatly, (we took WAY off on the crx guy haha)

anway, we pull over and talk, and i dont know if he was bs'ing me, but he was like ive got a titanium driveshaft, 9lb flywheel, intake, exhaust and an aftermarket ecu...

and he complimented my rx and said "the little thign is damn fast, must be well modded" well i told him my mods and the look of shock and dissapointment was enough to bring a smile to my face..

i really just expected to lose...

i guess eclipses are just pigs, whats the weight on one of those things?

yeah, im thinkign bs on that too, he was like yeah man, i put 6k into the eclipse, and that was before i told him i was near stock...

i cant wait, im saving up and getting closer to buying an s5 t2 engine for the fb.

then i may have some more impressive kills to post about.

i never posted this, i thought it was irrelavent, but funny one the less, the guy in the crx was like "whoa man, your shooting blue flames"

haha, so its nice to know that we left the crx guy far back enough to see me pop off a few

I could have swore I've heard of titanium driveshafts before but I could be mistaken, and I don't remember which cars they might have made them for either. But why do what he did? Same reason someone puts 20 grand into a Civic, pure stupidity. Or it's just what they choose to spend their money on, but I'm leaning more towards pure stupidity

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but i found out yesterday from a co-worker thats a friend of the eclipsse guy, that he's actually well modded, other then a full exhaust and intake he has a bigger throttle body, bigger injectors, msd ignition and he said he had some small internal work done\

when the carb dsetup gets installed im going to run him again and make him feel sad to lose badly to a carbeurated 1.3 litre rotary engine....

I torched an eclipse omw back from Punxy, PA on 879 headed uphill. All stock I would imagine except his fart can. He had 3 lil teenies in his car. I had my girl and a shorty (w/ timing and flywheel) 13B in the hatchback of my 86 GXL. Musta beat the poor SOB by 8 car lengths by the time i was ending 3rd gear. He never even saw the engine in the back of my car, bet that woulda pissed him off more =)

Well I actually have an 2001 Eclipse GT, I've autoXed, tracked it, and had it on the drag stip. For power I have headers, S-afc, 9lb flywheel, SPEC Stage 3 clutch, CAI, highflow cat, and borla catback. Oh yeah titanium drive shaft(jk). But the best I have got out of it in the 1/4 is a 14.8 at 94mph. Stock is suppose to be about 15.3+. And they also don't gain much hp from mods. I wish I had the money I spent on it to go on my FD.

And yes it is a PIG, especially compared to my FD, which is way more fun to AutoX/Track, not to mention alot faster and way better handling. I just wanted to give yall a comparison on what kinda numbers the Eclipse GT actually has with some mods.

BTW if it was an Automatic GT, stock they run in the 16's which is slow as ****.

depends what year. if it was awd, yes he would ahve a titanium driveshaft because they have been known to snap. and yes, with just a downpipe, a boost controller, and a fuel cut defenser you can gain 100 hp magicsally. they did it in some auto mag. i think it was sport compact?

Yeah nice kills

btw i have heard of carbon steel drive shafts but never of anybody getting one. A titanim driveshaft that bitch sounds really pricy if it is machined. The ammount it would cost for that would be well worth just buying a new f***ing engine and then some probally... It would be strong as all hell but not worth it I think.

Non of the GT's are awd only the GSX which they quit making in 99. The GT's replaced the top models GS-T and GSX in 2000. GS-T being fwd turbo and GSX being awd turbo. All the GT's beginning in 2000 are v-6 fwd. Oh yeah they made a GTS starting 2003 but all that did is bump the hp up to 210 and give it a lower gear ratio, but it is still fwd.

So if it was a GT then it didn't have a titanium drive shaft.

I've got a friend with a 2000 Eclipse GT with expensive long tube headers (Hytech), intake, exhaust, clutch, flywheel, ignition, and short shifter. He had trouble hooking up but trapped like 93 running a 15.2

isn't the GSL SE a 13B (fuel injected) and not a 12A (carbed)?

Indeed the se is a 13b, but mine is about to be a carb'd 13b, so i should be making more power, which i will use to post v8 kills instead of these lame eclipse kills.
