First Kill! SRT-4

Well i got back from a rx-7 meet up here and my friend calls me and says i should race this SRT-4 with soem mods. Well i decide to humor him so we meet up with the guy (and his g\f ). I ask him what he's got and he says all he had is bov, intake, and dp. After hearing that, i said let's go for it. I do a pretty good burnout and get ready to launch. We both drop it at the same time except i droped to low so it took forever for boost and apparently he spun through first . Once i spool in first i put him to my rear bumper and keep him seeing my tail lights the rest of the race. Overall i'd say i only had about a car to a half car between his front and my rear bumper but not sure. I also only let it rev to barely 7500rpm's and didn't try to shift as fast as i could've. When i talked to him he asked to run it again but i declined. My friend said he was pissed off after i declined. But it was a fun experience though i will being doing it rarely.

My mods: Apex Gt exhaust
Straight through dp and mp
Block off plates and simplified sequential

I saw an srt4 earlier today heading the opposite direction as me. But since the whole purpose of me driving was to find a race, I turned around to possibly see if I could get him to hit it. Anyways, I caught up with him at a a light where he was turning. I decided to follow, because I knew that the road remained 2 lanes. I blew off next to him and slowed down in 2nd gear. The guy straight stuck the upper half of his body out of the car and gave me the fattest thumbs down evar!!!

Anyways, he took off a little bit, but had to slow down for a couple cars that were a little bit in front of him. I got up next to him again, crusing in 2nd gear going a little over 25. He was just shaking his head and revving the thing off of the limiter while his ***** stock BOV 'pssh'd' at me. I was laughing at this huge asian dork, just giving him a goofy smirk and pointing towards the road in front of us... Well, the car in front of him turned and the two lanes appeared completely open in front of us. I waited there in 2nd gear for him to hit it and "show me what was up". But, as I watched him realize the gravity of the situation, that the road had cleared, he ducked up into some barely used road without using his blinker!!!!

This is like the 10th time this has happened to me in the past two weeks! EVERY ONE turns off. Whatever, I finally satisied my lust for the kill earlier this evening... muhhahaha. j/k.

What a n00b., lol.

WTF? He declines yet revs you out, then the road opens and he runs away?

most SRT-4's I run to are more of a fan, than foes.
The ones I run into are knowledgable about turbos and etc.

Most if not all SRT4 owners don't want to race or literally scared of my
FD. I think its the rims, body kit and the FMIC. I try to tell everyone
its either stock or run 14's. But I think word got out that I have a
T78 FD @ 15psi on pump gas.

anyways good kill, keep them coming..

Nice Like I said already, I can't say I'd win, but I'll run just about anybody that won't TOALLY blow me away in the VA NC MD area. I'm not gonna talk mad ****, but I like RX-7's, I just didn't see it being worth my money for something I've seen break down a lot. I wanted a brand new car this time around so I wouldn't hafta worry about all that. SRT's are quick and cheap...I was all about bang for the buck this time around.

Exaaaaaactly I'm all excited, our SRT club is doing a dyno day June 11th. I wanna see what I'm pushing close to stock then I will install my new wastegate, comp and intake(if I can find one) between pulls and up the boost to see the before and after with air/fuel. But you're on. Right now I don't have much done for power, only a boost controller. And I can't abuse that too much or else I'll **** something up. I'd love to run a lightly modded FD though. As far as I can tell, a stock FD and a stock SRT are close. I think it could even come down to driving skill alone. Figure the SRT is 230 hp 255 lbs/ft at the wheels stock and weigh 2,900lbs...I don't know exact numbers, but it seems like hp and/or torque was SLIGHTY lower for FD's, but you had a SLIGHTLY lower weight also...or something like that. Basically different advantages that could make it interesting. I'd like to see how it goes.

No offense to you, but please never compare an SRT4 to an FD. The FD is a true sports car, with the racing heritage of the RX.

Woah buddy! I love the Rotary RX-7 as much as any other, BUT...remember this...

The first Corvette had a six cylinder engine.
The first Porsche was still very much a Volkswagen.
The Shelby Cobra was based on a little-known British roadster.
The original Mustang borrowed heavily from the Falcon parts bin.
The first GTO was a LeMans option package.
The EVO is based on the Lancer.
The WRX STi is based on the Impreza.
The R32 is based on the Golf.
The RX-7 rooted from the Mazda Familia
The SRT-4 is based on the Neon.
Judge not humble beginnings...

Hmmm..... I don't think the RX-7 has anything to do with a familia, infact I'm pretty sure of it.

I still love that quote though. People knock the SRT-4 all the time not realizeing so many began the same. RX-7 just has a longer history of greatness...hopefully the SRT will do the same I seriously do love the FD's though! I just can't afford one(lame *** white boy here, )

Mazda familia frame was used as the basis for the R100. The first Mazda RX models appeared in the late 1960s as prototype vehicles. Sales in Japan began in 1968 and sales in the U.S. began in 1970 with the rotary powered R100. Later that year the RX-2 was introduced as a 1971 model. Road Test, a popular automotive magazine at the time, named the RX-2 the 1972 Import Car-of-the-Year. From there it's RX legend/history.

Really? You guys have any meetings going on between 25th and the 1st? I'm Navy and our ship will be in NYC for Fleet week. I won't have my car But if I can meet up with y'all and maybe get to know some of you I'd have a place to go if I did go up to try my luck in a race sometime. I will be free on May 25th, 26th, and 29th through the 1st of Jun.
