Auto's have gears too... but I made the sentence confusing. They call them autosticks for the Magnums, but I am pretty sure at the last SEMA show I saw a 6 speed autostick on display. Maybe I'm crazy.

Ah I see what your saying about the transmission. I knew that it was auto, I don't know how many gears though. Could very well be 6. I just immediately thought manual tranny when I read that.

v8s are heavy. they are so heavy that they throw the legendary 50/50 balance off to a distasteful 50/50 balance. i cant believe you'd ruin the perfect balance.
what a waste of a car. Who wants torque? Torque is the enemy of making real power.
And who wants something that can be worked on by most mechanics? I'd rather have something rare and complicated so if it breaks down, I'm stranded and have to get it towed to a shop 50 miles away.
With all of this said, I like your battery. Not joking about that

well heres my run in with a 06 GTO. I was cruisin with my buddy (he drives a BPU 99 VR-4 running about 12-14 psi). We see the GTO drive by and were both instantly interested...especially since the guy gave a look and basically begged up to play. I wasnt try to weave through traffic to catch him so i had to hang back...the VR-4 caught an opening and i could see and hear them both open up. It was probably a 2nd gear roll and they shut down sumwhere in 3rd. I later found out that the VR-4 pulled about a car before they shut down.
So i see this and since i have raced the VR-4 many of times and beat it every time I wanted a shot at the 6.0L which i think is a badass car BTW. So I catch up and get next to the GTO but dont really get a chance to do even a full pull in one gear. Surprisingly we catch a light and we get to chatting.
The guy is with his wife and its a bone stock 06. I am by myself....BUT...i am running a SMIC without a duct and for the time i have been driving i can tell theres some bad heatsoak. So as were talking i find out from his wife that she "loves my car" and "used to have a 2nd gen".............WHAT?!?...ha, kinda random but i was digging it
So Im still chatting with the wife when the light turns and he pulls off pretty decently...he was about a car...car 1/2 before i took off after him.
1st gear..........nothing, I cant pull
2nd gear..........nothing, I can't pull
3rd gear...........slightly inching and i rev 3rd out till 8 grand just to pull that last half car length before i shut down right at his door.
those cars are verrrry torquey and it was clear by how quick he got goin in the lower gears.
My mods are:
aftermarket IC (my duct is out being tweaked since it was custom from 13BNUT on the forum....which kills efficientcy)
I have manual boost controller set to 9 psi with a boost pattern of 9-7-5-7-9
Highflow cat, dp, RB duals, 9lb flywheel, streetport, hot air intake
so i would guess im in the mild/moderately modded category which like someone else mentioned is a drivers race against these 06 Goats
Great cars, guy was cool, but unfortunately I only had the chance to run him beginning in first.....I would of much rather enjoyed a 3rd gear roll....;-)

I love my goat I'm not seeing how you could have kept up with him, though...especially with light mods like that. An '06 will run damn close to a 13.0 stock with a great driver. They're heavy as poop, but 400 lb/ft of torque make up for that a bit. Not saying BS or anything...you've got a strong FD with those mods if you kept up with him that well. Or he was in 3rd LOL. 2nd gear is the only really good pulling gear in a stock GTO as far as I can tell. 3rd is a bit sluggish...anything higher still accelerates, but doesn't pull hard. 1st gear just gets you tire smoke. Nice race though
Are you f'n kidding me?? A well sorted full exhaust, intake, PFC tuned FD is a low- mid 12 second 112-115mph car. Thats heads & cam territory on a LS2 Goat!

agreed. noone knows what a simple bolt on fd can do with an exhaust and intake with the pfc b/c most fds around are pieces of crap. that simple.

I'd like to see proof that an intake/exhaust/tune only car will run a low 12 second pass. Not calling BS, I'd just be interested in seeing it. My two friends have two single turbo FDs with all the supporting mods and are in the high 11s.
An '05 GTO with DRs, mild cam, Fast90 IM, and full exhaust will run a high 11, too, btw. I searched around a bit on the forum and found that. Don't get me wrong, either - I'm not your typical domestic guy. I've owned an FD in the past, and still love them today. I've owned 11 other imports, too. This is my first domestic. You won't catch me bashing FD's on here (other than maybe the reliability issues, but that's more of a personal issue with me) or any other type of rotary vehicle. I know the potential of the car, and i respect it.
EDIT: Straight from the GTO forum

edit: damn i ddint even read the quote u posted from gto forum....i see it now. anyways what i posted above is exactly what the data u posted infers. those guys all got awesome short times i would be willing to bet and also probably have automatics. guess what...i would eat 90% of them in a street encounter with my 360 rwhp stock twin stock motor fd. **** now that i look again i am willing to bet i would eat all 100% of them actually. drag racing tells u who hooks better but rollon racing tells whos car is faster. and thats all i care about....whos car is faster. i couldnt give a **** about ETs. if i did i would go buy a set of tires and get mid 11s with my bolt on only car and hate to drive it on the road cause the tires are so f'ing squirrely.

I have a video of me running a 13.0@112MPH in my FD, with a shitty 2.2 60', and my car billowing out clutch smoke from underneath as the clutch was slipping from 2nd gear on. This was with only an intake, 3" exhaust with cat, and a Pettit ECU (13psi). Not saying the GTO isnt a respectable car, but a simple bolt on FD is no slouch.
