Talking FD vs Porsche Carrera 4 S

I had a little race with a Porsche Carrera 4 S today Here's some info on the Porsche:

http://www.maximum-cars.com/Cars/Car.php?carnumber=603

It looked exactly the same as the one in the pics, except it had a small rear wing.

I left work early today to play some beach volleyball with some friends. I'm in the FD, and had to go home first. I see this nice looking Porsche ahead of me. He stops for a stoplight, and I get in behind him. No room to race here. I follow him to an area where we might get a race, and I cruise past him. We check out each others cars. He looks to be in his early 50's. I get in front of him in traffic approaching an intersection, and the light changes. He stops. ****!! I wait for him at the next light. He cruises by and rolls down his window. I din't hear all of what he said, but there was something about 150 mph..... blah blah blah. I said "how about a race". He waves his hand to motion that there is not room yet. He is right. Traffic clears for a moment, and we both hit it for a short burst from about 40 mph. I pull on him about 1/2 a car length and have to slow for traffic. He passes me on the left, and I pull in behind him at the next light. There is no one in front of him, and I am anticipating that he will go hard when the light changes. He goes quickly, and then waits for me to pull along side I like this guy. We are at about 40 mph. I give him a nod, and he goes an instant before I do. I pull on him about 1/2 car length by the end of 2nd, and another 1/2 car length before we have to shut down at around 80 mph. He pulls along side, and asks "does that thing have a turbo?" I reply "yes, they come that way from the factory. Nice car, have a nice night". I was turning right, and he was turning left. A friendly wave, and we went our separate ways.

It isn't very often that the guys in the expensive Porsches will race, so I have to give him a lot of credit. I liked this guy, and I honestly felt bad for him because part of the "blah blah blah" was " I just got the car yesterday"

Adam,

You should have told him that you had no turbos and that your car weighs 5000 lbs.

Nice kill.

eh, to each their own. Porsche has an incredibly devoted following, and plenty of people willing to spend the money, and to them its not all about speed. But Im with you. For 80k, I'd rather have an M5, or a C5 Z06 AND an FD, with money left over.

The Porsche was beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous. That guy is getting laid. I would love to have a car like that, but would never spend that much money on ANY car.

I'll bet that someone makes a kit for that car to bump up the HP to 400. Of course, its a Porsche, so the kit will cost 10K.

Actually the Boxter kits are not that bad in price. Incidentally its only the 911 (996/993) and carerra models that cost uber **** loads to service that way. Funny part is at the price buying a boxter is a waste of funds (likewise as soon as the SUV trend dies as will the value of the cayenne. [Look at the assumed value of an '8X Lamborghini LM in 1991, and the approximate value today.]) The 911 will yield a MUCH higher turn around. I drive a 944 and the complete Twin-screw supercharger kit for it is only running me $5800, and will bump the RWHP in excess of 500+

Really thats a bit of an oversimplification on my part, the full kit comes with massively bumped up injectors, manifold, etc. Basically everything you will need to adapt the SC to a stock N/A. The combo brings the engine to a solid 500 @ ~6500 (an easy 450 to the wheels.) Now bare in mind that's a flywheel dyno, but at the same time as this mod I am installing a customized dual exhaust system (sans Cat.)

So now I am put here to impress you? Nice to know next time I do a ******* trick give me a cookie, okay? I never said I OWN it yet, I merely stated an approximate number for which the mod should attain for me. Don't like that answer? TS I am, not going to make up some BS "whaaaa" story about a fabulous sum of money I spent on a mystery product that magically rick flairs my supera to exceeding 1000+ HP. No, this is a simple TSSC that was built to 944 specifications and is being purchased through a local source. Yes I have had my hands physically ON the product. No, I do not have a site. Don't like it? Deal.

Well, you can at least give us some details. I'm interested, I may own a 944 someday. Who makes the kit, and do they have any dyno charts? As I am sure you are aware, talk is cheap when it comes to rwhp.

Exactly. That is a LOT of RWHP for a 944 w/no funny gas. Until I see a dyno, or published/advertised & backed RWHP output, its a complete "guess" (pretty lofty one at that). I don't see it - 500 RWHP is equal to or greater than 50% MORE output than the the 944 Turbo S's I've seen highly modded (higher boost, chipped, full exhaust, intake, pullies, etc).

Ah well, whatever.

You don't have a clue what you are talking about and your comments are complete BS. How did I know you didn't have a link/site? Because you made up those numbers. A stock 1983 944 makes 143 CRANK hp and you think with bolt ons it's going to make 500 plus? (ROTFLMAO) A 951 modified and tweaked on race fuel MAY make 345 rwhp. I have owned multiple Porsches, including a 928 GTS (two 944 motors) and let me tell you pal, you are full of it. Comical...

I told you I'm not here for anyone else's personal satisfaction. And FYI the 928 V8 isn't even similar to 2 944 I4's, thats a ignorance and frankly arrogant statement. Your snap judgments are absolutely amusing. You would **** yourself if Iscanned my dyno sheet from my last 2 runs (which I absolutely refuse to, I find your jealousy highly amusing. Besides that is for me and my mechanic to know, I don't need a number, my performance on the track is enough to tell that tale.) Slightly more than a stock Turbo S? Yes. Extreme? No. But she holds her own. Why you continue is beyond me; I told everyone I am not here to listen to these pissings, nor to impress you. In fact I don't care if you don't believe me. Nay, I HOPE you fail to believe me. That empowers me.
He who angers you, owns you.
