87 turbo II vs Rally STI GSR civic m3 and more.

Sup everyone? I've been DDing my turbo II for a while now but I hardly see any 'tuner' cars on the street. However, this week has been good to me.

Started out by seeing a beautiful STI 03-06. Black slammed on volks and had the drivers name with a little American flag next to it. He pulled up on me gave me a quick wave and let his BOV sound off. I rolled my window down and asked to pull from 60~. He agrees but tells me he's got snow stuck in his wheel wells from a rally haha. So we line up I drop down to third and I assume he did to (i think they are 6 speed.) He gives the three beeps and we take off. We were dead even until his third ran out at about 75~ I stayed in third and pushed it to 8k and walked away.
We tried a couple more times and the results were similar. Cool car over all though.

Next day I go out for a cruise with a couple locals. As were all driving 65~ on the high way when an M3 blows past at about 100. I put my high beams on a chase him in fourth. Eventually we catch up and my passenger is motioning for us to rac. At first the beemer disagrees but after I hit the BOV a couple times he drops a shift. I drop down to 3rd at 70~ 6000 rpm. Surprisingly the M3 gave the beeps. Aftr the third I go WOT and easily pull a car length ahead to about 100mph. Bmw drivers flips us off and takes the next exit :P. At this point we realize a brand new TT coupe was watching and was now pacing us. I look over at the TT and he tries to get the jump. I slip into third and blow past him haha. This was a great night for me seeing how I've never dyno'd my car and this was pretty much one my first street races with a decent car.

Two days later I get a call from one of the same kids we were cruising with before and he asks if I want to go to a street race in jersey city. Of course I'm down We roll up to the parking lot and its mostly civics with the exception of an EVO X GSR, WRX, 2 300ZXs and a 350Z. We get there and immediately a kid with a white EG walks over. He asks about my mods which i am quite modest about (pretty much lied to him). He tells me hes got a gutted EG B18 swap with intake mani and other goodies. He asks if I wanna race, and I agree. We drive o a pretty secluded highway and pull over. We line up from a dead stop and a kid comes over to set it up. He Stands in the middle of our cars and tells us "spin em real quick" This is the first time I've had to stag up as I've never raced from a dig ever. Ifree rev to 5K slip the clutch and walk it out. After I revers and lie up the kid readies us. You ready? he points o the civic who puts the 2 step on. He points me me I bring it up to 4.5K.
He drops his arms and we go. Civic got a decent launch but by the time I shifted to second it was all over :P I ended up pulling out 3rd as well and won by about 2.5 lengths. A non surprising outcome but fun nonetheless as this was my first dig race ever.

So we all roll back to the meet but its sorta late now maybe about 2 AM. Luckily the EVO X WRX and 350Z were still there. As I pull up the EG motions for me to come over. he introduces me to the drivers of the EVO X and the WRX. Older gentleman maybe in their early 30s. Me and the evo discuss racing as i'm curious as to how I'll stack up. We agree not to go from a dig because "it would be so unfair for you I'd be gone" (the EVOs words). So we roll out to the high way and do pulls from 40. I kept it in second for the pulls and when the third beep hit I went WOT. At first it was close but as I neared 8K in second it was clear I was going to pull away. Got him by one length half way thru 3rd but was unable to go any faster due to mild traffic from the kids we were with. We end up doing one more 40 roll with the same results. This time he tries to brake boost but it just isnt enough. So we end up turning around and heading back. Halfway back the WRX And EVO X stop at a 3 lane green light. I'm confused so I ask the civic whats up? he says go talk to them and see what they wanna do. I pull up and ask if were going to go all three of us. they say yeah so I go okay from 40??? the evo replys no from a stop. ( i guess his pride was on the line) at first I disagree I tell him I've hardly launched my car let alone against an AWD. He starts talking **** so I bring it up to 4.5k and tell him **** it go ahead and beep. The evo gives 3 beeps and we take off. WRX and EVO obviously get the jump but as I struggle for traction in first I can tell that I miiiight be able to catch up. So I slam into 2nd and push out to 8k Quick shift to 3rd and WOT. At this point the WRX is behind us but i'm reeling the EVO in. I pass him at 7800RPM in third and end up wining the race. You could imagine my excitement as I've never raced from a stop so beating two AWDs made me feel invincible

Thats pretty much it sorry for the huge post lol. just though I'd share my first experiences racing a couple of cars.

kinda doubt the car's stock to be beating 300hp+ sti's and evos...b18 swap civic's aren't really a threat even with the itr or ctr transmissions

This has been a very fun week indeed for the FC. She's loving the cold weather

As for the touge I'd love to get out there. But, I've yet to go out and search for any good
mt. passes here in jersey.

As for mods

1987 S4 Turbo II
S5 Turbo II motor and trans.
Big street port
HKS Light weight flywheel
ACT clutch
Racing Beat Rev II exhaust
Racing Beat FCD
720 CC secondaries
Greddy RS BOV
Power Steering, Air pump, Cruise control, and AC Removed
Pulleys removed (just running one)
ACV EGR valve block off plates
Peaking at 14-15 psi and holding 10psi

Maybe a few more mods I might be forgetting. Also running a gutted interior but I kept the dash and glove box. All these races I was running with no passenger.

No I have 720cc secondaries. And besides little adjustments to the A/f ratio and timing theres no fuel management. Stock S5 Turbo II ECU. Been this way for about 20K miles. It doesn't bog but has a slight hiccup at 3800rpm, and pulls hard all the way to 8k .

I'm gathering parts for a single turbo swap that's being started this month so I'm going to wait to put my microtech in.

You can't adjust anything but idle AFRs if you have no fuel management. And I hope you also have an aftermarket fuel pump. The stock pump is useless over stock boost levels.

The fuel pump is aftermarket. I've seen no need to adress the fuel management as I've had no hesitation or detonation for 20k miles of hard driving. However I do foul up a lot of spark plugs and get horrible gas mileage. Also I've had a very reliable person do all my engine work who I trust very much.
