2004 Cobra vs 1300cc Hayabusa *video*

NOTE: THIS IS A NIGHT VIDEO, YOU CAN TELL WHAT IS GOING ON STILL, BUT IT'S NOT THE BEST QUALITY SHOT EVER, IF YOU DO NOT LIKE NIGHT VIDEOS - PLEASE DO NOT WATCH AND IF YOU DO WATCH, DO NOT COMPLAIN!

Just a friendly run between some friends. The Busa rider was having some problems getting into Second gear in both runs, but nothing "major" I suppose..

To my knowledge, the Busa is stock but I could be wrong, I'll try to find out tonight. The Cobra is pulley/spray with a good tune, pushing some very good numbers.

"Inside scoop":
First run, Busa was "momentarily" missing second gear while the Cobra was spinning hard, Busa putting some lengths on the Cobra.

Second run was smooth for the Cobra, but a little rough for the Busa, again missing Second.

The Chase car is a buddy's T71 Supra. He didn't hear their honks, so he was left at the jump, but easily real them back in even though at 3/4th-or so throttle with a little frequent brake tap

A side wall layer of his tire came off (that's the knocking noise in the video!), thank god nothing bad happened, especially at those speeds!!!

Another thing, the filming was done with my camera, but I was not filming! I would like to apologize for the shitty filming before hand!

A car will never smoke a bike.. some exceptions there but .. still. the freaking car has to be stupid fast.. and the rider has to suck for the car to win.... not because i ride a bike also but u knw..... its not even fair to run a car........ and busas are slow!!! I raced a couple of them and a 00 r1 gave me more of a challenge then the busa did.... I ride a 06 R1 got parts on it Up the butt.....

It is very feasable for a 400hp FD, or i would say highly modded fd to beat a bike. Give or take a little bit, 400hp for a 600, 500 for a 750, and 600 for a 1000cc, around 670 for a busa. Those might be high or lofty, dont quote me, just my guess

A near stock zx14 ran 9.17 flat at around 155, under 1K in mods:

BUSA

from a high speed roll, it's all about hp and aerodynamics...the power to weight ratio "formulas" quoted by so many yahoos on this forum demonstrate a near universal misunderstanding of basic physics and rolling resistance

A bike is still the best bargain when it comes to speed, you can have at least 2 different models (Busa/zx14) into the 8 second 1/4 range for under 15K including the purchase of the bike. Not only that they will be fully street legal (even in CA), and no less streetable than stock. For under 20K including the purchase of a new vehicle you can get either of them into the 7's. This would of course require a nearly pro rider.

Cars are faster than bikes, period. You have a bigger contact patch and you can lay down more hp. Look at the worlds fastest bikes vs the worlds fastest cars, game over.

Can't argue with that. But it still takes a very extreme car to out accelerate a fast bike, and the car allways costs allot more, fast bikes are cheap and common.

Bikes are also more interesting (in many ways), immagine if every jap car manufacturer made 5 or more different models of sports car, that changed radicly with advances in technology ever 2-3 model years.

absolutely no question about that

how else can you get into the 9s for less than 10k, and still have a machine that will, in the right hands, beat the new Z06 on a roadcourse?

there is nothing like a modern day literbike, anyone who hasn't experienced it, needs to...you will be converted

i own and ride a literbike... that being said. when ppl compare bikes to cars it always seems to be the best street bikes vz a common car.. if you do price for price. 10k bike vs 10k car. this would not be fair tho. A bike is no something you drive everyday(i do) they are more of a toy or something some1 wants... if you can buy a 10K toy you should be able to buy a 30k car. witch is where it starts to get hard for bikes to beat.. or if you want to stick with a 10k car. then out preform it with a 250/500 ninja or other bike that is compairble... but i you want to stay in the $ for $ a race ready bike for 10k will not beat a stock 10k car... that is most case's is far from race ready

for the ppl that want to say $ of $ answer this for me... would you compair a 06R1 to a 00vw jetta or a lotus... and the reason you would say lotus is its a super bike so by default it should be compared to a super car.. but if you compared the bike to any real car it would be slower... full drag bikes are slower then full drag cars. full land speed bikes slower then full land speed cars. GP motor bikes sower then F1 cars.. in all these cases are the extream for both bikes and cars.. witch makes them fair to compare.. and as you see cars are always faster!!!

there is a story in the kill section from years ago about a guy in is rx7R1 that raced some bikes thru lots of curves out of the 10 or so bikes after the 1st few turns there was only half the riders behind him. the more and more turns he went thru the less and less bikes that could keep up till there was only 1 bike left that was falling behind more and more till he was out of site. the car pulled over at a gas station to get something a fem min later the fast guy on the bike pulled in and they talked...

any1 thta thinks a car is slower.. really dosent know much about bikes. a bike is more or less a wall trying to push its way thru the air.. its not the bikes fault its the rider.. go figure ppl are not aerodynamic..

^Amen. He's got it. Also, last time I checked, it takes alot out of you (physically) to ride a bike hard. Doesn't take much to do some spirited driving in a car. Furthermore, I tend to appreciate going from point A to point B without a helmet, AND, I like to stay warm in the winter, cool in the summer. Cars= teh win in my book. But thats just me.

that was one rambling post

interesting that in the "car vs. bike" comparisons (roadcourse with production cars vs. production bikes) the bike always wins

and every year, the new bikes get faster and lighter, and the rubber gets better, so the corner speeds keep climbing...but it takes an expert like "Kento" (Kent K. of Sport Rider) to ride one of these new machines to it's limits

sure, the car will usually win on a mountain road against street squids, but the fast guys who also ride on the track are blazingly quick, and will run down most cars, including a new Z06, and blow them right off the road

Nice video, but an R1 is fast but not the "CREME" of motorcycle. The original post was regarding acceleration, and the video with the porsche proves my point, look how the bike flys by the porsche in the strait.

In any case that race was suprisingly close

Second, F1 cars are faster than moto GP bikes, no ****.

Like the guy said, the 911 isn't the "cream" of the car world either.

At that time, the R1 pretty much was. The vid was done prior to the ZX14.
