2001 Z06 vs SRT4

I got on the freeway and saw him hit the gas to run up to me. He passed me and the car in front of me, and I figured, this guy wants to play, why not. I followed him till it was clear in both lanes and got up next to him. I didnt hear him drop a gear, he just took off. So i dropped it from 6th to 3rd, hit the gas and gave chase. I was next to him at about 110, and i was a car and a half ahead at 135-140 area. At that point i saw him drop back really fast, and started worrying about possible police in the area. I hit the brakes, got down to about 70, and looked in my rear view...

He had a giant oil slick on the front of his car....OWNED!!! I couldnt help but start laughing my *** off as he slowed down and pulled off the side of the road. I didnt think he would break...but I suppose I thought wrong. If anyone knows a Silver SRT4 in the Davis area, that just blew up, tell him that I feel bad for him. (He had a drag entry number on his rear passenger window, and no emblems. His rear windows and that were all tinted.)

I have to give him credit, he pulled pretty good on me before i downshifted, but by the time i hit 4th gear i was back on his bumper and passing him...Still, surprised me a little bit. Didnt think he would be that quick.

All in all, good race though. I do feel bad about him blowing his motor...and probably cooking his turbo though.

Anyways, just posting another one up.

Nice kill.

Might want to invest in a radar detector, lol.

Yeah, but theyre illegal in Cali...Ive got a buddy that says he wired up something with a CB radio and a GPS navigation system that shows you about where the cops are at...but I havent seen it yet. If it actually works I would probably go with something like that...But like I said, radar detectors are illegal in cali, and would be a ticket for sure, even if im 5 over...

Thanks.

Thats the point of a detector, so you don't get caught doing even 5 over.

i'm sure at the time this little race may have been exciting to you, but just because you had a good time doesn't make it a an exciting story to the rest of us. i mean wow.. corvette and a srt-4 and I want to hear about that combination why?? you have a rx-7 man start driving it and if its broke fix it haha

Im working on getting the 7 running, it just isnt quite there yet. Still need a clutch in it, and new tires.

No what rastarajah?

And dont ask where the 7 is, If youll note, this forum says, for ANY vehicle. If you dont like it, well im sorry to hear that, just trying to share a kill...But dont say anything about it. I dont judge you on your cars (7 or otherwise)...I would appreciate the same in return. Please.

Radar detectors are not Illegal. I have been pulled over many times with my Cobra Radar Detector sitting right in the middle of my dash board. Cops look at it and do nothing of it.

I've gone through Inspections, regular traffic stops and check points with it, even with it beeping like crazy right infront of the cop!

Now, having Police Scanners is Illegal.

I was under the impression that they were illegal from my first traffic school. I could be wrong, just havent seen the law that says they arent. Good to know, I may invest. Any brand you recomend? Ive heard mixed things about the cobra.

Valentine. Only reason I have my Cobra is because a friend sold it to me for 20 bucks from the regular price of $200+

Yeah my buddy has a Cobra detector. We got pulled over by a biker cop.... He looked at the detector and said, "That didn't help much did it?" He was coming in the opposite direction, we didn't notice him and then all of a sudden the detector went crazy but by that time it was to late. We were only going like 7MPH over so he let us off with a warning.

Nice kill though. Wish I had a Z06.... or at least its engine

Nah they still have about 20 mph left so between 150-160 depending on wheel/tire package. Depending on mods though he probably wouldn't have made much of a run past 130 without at least some headwork/intake portwork .

...And why would that be? You must not realize how good American vehicles can be.

A few examples of GOOD american muscle, new and old.

69 Mustang GT500 KR special
70 Charger RT
70 Camaro SS(or 427/Yenko)
87 Buick Regal Grand National (12 sec quarter with STOCK trim, including wheels and tires)
70 GTO

New:
Chevrolet Corvette
Dodge Challenger (08!!!)
Pontiac GTO (yes it was based off an aussie car...but it was built here...)
Firebird (and formula firebird)
Trans am
Camaro (96+)

And dont forget, Ford currently OWNS mazda...Though theyve done a shitty job so far...

Thanks for the update on the speed. Yeah, It looked like he was still pulling though i was passing him, just he blew up.

^-- Shitty job? not even close...

Anywho, you also forgot the Ford GT, Dodge Viper SRT-10, Saleen S7, and I'm sure there are others I've missed.

Yeah, but I really dont like the viper(not much traction, no abs), or the GT(the new corvette is right on its ***, and it costs 250k...), and the Saleen is just well...Not really affordable for most people. But you're right they are american cars.

Ford attempted to make a rotary and failed...

And I just dont like ford in general really...dont make too many decent cars, and all the ones they do make, are whored out ceaselessly.

When my brother's SRT4 was near stock, we maxed it out at 158-160mph for 15 minutes, drained the gas pretty good though.
