Just curious, have you ever driven a late model F-body? Im not trying to defend these guys or anything, but there are far worse cars. They actually dont handle all that bad, the extra weight is obvious once you start really pushing it, but with a few choice suspension mods they can hold their own.

Looks are subjective, I personally like the WS6 with its huge nostrils.

Nah, my experience with American "muscle cars" is pretty limited. I've ridden in a friends mod'd '99 Camaro Z28, another friends Saleen Mustang pushing 450whp and a couple other cars of that genre.

I will say, compared to what I'm used to, those cars are frikkin' BOATS. All of them have hood's for miles, super-roomy interiors, and they feel about 20 feet long. Definitely not the quick and nimble imports I'm used to.

That being said, I feel compelled to defend Rx7's on Rx7club.com. It's annoying when 'outsiders' come in here and throw up BS flags on believable kill stories. I have no (personal) problem with anyone's car, but I find it enjoyable to defend the truth of Rx7's superiority (j/k ) when confronted with BS.

I had no idea FD's could be high 11's low 12's cars with an intake/exhaust(and still doubt it without a dyno sheet). That is why I threw the BS flag.

they cant w/ intake and exhaust only. high 12 maybe. i ran a 12.9 with and exhaust and k@n filter. thats it. 12.9 @108mph. However, a f body isnt runnin a low 12 or high 11 with just an intake and exhaust either. Nice cars tho, my buddies have them

1. the constant use of the phrase "**** bag(s)" shows that you have a lack of respect or none at all for women which i think you might want to work on but then again i dont know you in person.

2. My family has a long history in the armed forces be it Navy, Army, Marines etc. and i respect your choice to be apart of that. However, i think its rather obvious you have some issues you should really see someone about. I say this because my uncle fought in Vietnam, he was apart of the Green Berets and amoung many battles he took part in one was the battle for Hill 937 aka Hamburger Hill (you may or may not have heard of this but being in the military i highly doubt you havent). Point being is while in the fighting his eye was blown out along with other various injuries but once he got home he was never the same. Now he is basically crazy, my guess being from the things he saw and did. Who knows maybe if he talked to some1 about what happened it could have prevented the break down he eventually suffered.

In no way am i trying to give you a psycho analysis, just trying to give some advice you may or may not accept. It is hard for those who have never been in a war or actually sat down and talked to someone who has to comprehend what its like.

Again, common (ignorant) misconception... Modified turbo Rx7's are high-maintainance, but most problems come from carelessness and poor tuning.

You just have no idea what you're talking about...

It's not uncommon for FB's and N/A FC's to last 200k+ miles on the stock motor. TII FC's can easily last upwards of 150k on the stock motor as well.

I've heard it from FD owners themselves, that they are not good for a DD. They do break. They are amazing cars, and I wouldn't mind owning one for a track day car. But, in the grand scheme of things there are other things I would want to spend my money on than maintenance every month.

I pray an Rx7 never comes into your possesion...Reason being i'd hate for you to soil its reputation. Look dude you're 19 what life experiences have you had to use as a foundation to say those things to Recon FD....at least he's got *****. I'm only 21 but i did time in the Unite States Army. I have a say...as my Sr. Drill Sgt. in Basic asked if we'd ever seen Starship Troopers? The reference to that movie is how you HAD to serve in the military to become a citizen. Unfortunatly and lucky for you our country doesn't do that.

And coming from those FD owners ask how many of them we're professionaly built and professionaly tuned. My FD has 150k on it and the engine was just replaced 5k ago.

Also as WRX's go i can't stand the way they sound.....bah just reminds me too much of mini coopers. They sound like a honda with a plug wire pulled. JUST PERSONAL OPINION not trolling.

I DD my car w/o (without just in case i lost you on that) problems...I've also done all the Reliabilty mods as well.

I'm not afraid of joining the military. If I needed to go to war and serve my country, I would do it, without question.

Some of the people that told me this were from Central Florida Turbo.

As for the sound of the WRX, many people disagree with you. I love the boxer rumble, it sounds more like a muscle car than a Honda. In fact, I don't see how you could compare it to a honda at all, lol.

I ran a 12.8@110mph on stock motor, turbos, drivetrain, clutch & flywheel with untuned ECU, a small boost leak & shitty street tires. The RX-7 has plenty of potential without major mods .

is gm still selling your cars with the extra bonuses??? you know piston slap and faulty bearings in the rocker arms, how pathetic on a new car. i have never had a problem with the rocker arms in a rotary. oh the rotary is only been in development since the 60's and it has great hp to weight ratio. i can pick up the assembled engine block and move it by myself because it only weighs about 180-200 lbs.

Iownawrx has already proven himself to be a troll. Bastien seems to actually know what he's saying and keeps the personal attacks to a minimum. Budd needs to relax and take the facts like a man.

-FD weighs far less which = better handling and better power-to-weight ratio.
-Intake and exhaust goes much further on a turbo car than a N/A.
-Just because a car runs 12's on the strip in no way means it will do so on the street.
-The one thing the F-body has on the 7 is its overall power potential (not to be confused with actual power or speed).

I don't even own an FD and I know this stuff for a fact. I'm not just a 7 lover either. You can't deny any of these things so stop trying to ask for slips. You didn't believe that the 7's beat the precious F-body so you call B.S. They supply vids so you jump on everyone that can't do the same. You going to start attacking anyone that can't beat your personal time now? Pathetic. Just because some other guy lost you have to somehow prove that your e-weenie isn't small. Get over it.

I've never raced at the strip, I've had stoplight wars with plenty of american muscle, and the cars I have beaten:

01 Z28...intake, open exhaust(he had some switch thing to open and close them or somthing), all I know is it was loud as ****. I'm supposing a little more work based on the sound.......He had me by about 2-3 car lengths in 1st and 2nd gear, by 3rd gear I was pulling on him, and by 4th I was about 2-3 car lengths ahead of him.

somewhere around 00 TA......he had a cowl hood, and some exhaust work, I have no idea what he had because the guy was a douche and didnt even want to say good race at the next stoplight(we went for about 2 miles). He just looked at me and sneered

My buddies automatic Firebird(02 I think), he had the exhaust switch thing, intake, ecu, ls6intake, new headers, and a shift kit. I was 1 car length or so ahead of him when we broke 115 or 120, it was VERY close. His car dyno'ed at 410 at the wheels(or so he says) It was also a cold day, I dont know about his traction issues, but mine were fine!

(I also got my *** handed to me by a 1999 TA), other than those I havent really raced that many other people, not many people around here have crazy fast cars though, or I'm just too tired from work to bother with eclipses and civics(that and I dont want to)

Needless to say, American Muscle is fantastic for drag, best in the world at that, I'm just not too much into drag, I do appreciate it though. IMO if somone takes pride in the car, doesnt do anything too gaudy, I respect them because we share the same passion for cars.

People I hate:

People who have 8.5 second N/A civics with no nitrous, and have multiple ECU's(ricers that dont know jack about their own car)

American Muscle guys who do nothing but talk **** about my car, especially when I just go up to them to talk about their car.....I dont think my car is the fastest **** ever, I think its quick, but I'm still working on fast....

For instance, I was at a local meet, a guy pulls up in a Mustang GT, see's my car and says "****** Imports" he spits on my car and kicks it....what do I do? I ******* deck him! Noone has any right, no matter what car you have, to spit on it or kick it.
(fyi, my exterior is completely stock....no nasty aluminum wings/decals or tint)

My FD is my baby, and if anyone does anything to hurt her, I'll kill them><

We all share the same love for cars, so why do we have to have flame battles? its kind of annoying!

Bastien does not know the difference between a street race and 1/4 mile drag obviously. There are many factors that take place during a street race that don't apply to the 1/4.

First of all the end of the race is determined by racers not by an actual set distance.

In the 1/4 a real drag racer has his gearing set so he can have the best results in that enviroment but at a great sacrifice to the top end.

A street race can be any where from a stop or a roll, to 50 MPH or to 180 mph.

A street race is where one can suck at driving and still kick the other racer's *** (who may be a in fact be great driver) because the car has enough time and power over the other vehicle to compensate for the lack of driving skills.

Budd,

I do appreciate your concern for my mental health, but I am fine. You are correct to say that it is sometimes very hard for someone who has not been put in a war enviroment to comprehend that type of situation.
It is a little upsetting to here such a negative comment come from someone which you risk your life for day in and day out. To be told by someone who knows nothing about me except I like rx7s that he "prays to god I don't fight for our counrty" does strike a nerve . I have a sense of pride in what I do (which I am sure is obvious now) and don't "demand" respect from anyone, but just expect support from fellow americans. I think you should back your counrty's fighting forces if you agree with a war or not. (I like this smilie)

He should be thanking god the corps doesn't fight for another country. hehehe

thanks,
-josh

The video shows my 1/4mile race with an LS1 TA from Start to Finish, thats all.
It did not take just 5sec. but i wish it did
My point at "LS1tech.com" was to witness the intellectual, psychological and behavioral dynamics of their collective reactions and test the stereo-types associated with that group (and maybe set-up another race..hehe)
At 50+ posts in the thread, I've seen what I needed to. I will save my in-depth analysis, but in short:
In general, the stereo-types stand
This group holds no monopoly on objectivity
and, as always, there are a few exceptions.

There was a lot of Big talk how
"didn't happen/ couldn't happen"
"it was staged/the TA wasn't trying"
"Jon is a poopie-head/Video is BSBSBSBSBS!"
But...
only one challenger!
And he wants a Two Car Handicap!!
And he has some mods he is not telling me (ETslicks/ECU retune ect)
This is the one guy with the ***** to back up the Talk, here is what he has to say...
(yes, he is being very sarcastic about my "KILLER"ect.
But he still does want the handicap!)

"Ohjonnybomb! I've thought about this and after previewing the video, I don't think it's fair to say my stock (engine) LS1 would match up with that LS1(mostly stock) KILLER you got! I'll tell you what, looks like you got him atleast two car lengths in that video! I'll take 2 car lengths in the quarter from a dig for $500, you can look under my hood, everywhere you want and you gotta race! I can't take a chance on running that thing head-up (at least not for money and quite frankly that's what it's gonna take to get me to race you), the way you raped that T/A! My car ain't any diff than that! 2 car lengths, $500 and you got a race this weekend (weather permitting)! Sorry dude the proof's in the video! Can't do head -up with that monster! That should help you prove how accurate that video was! I'll video tape it so you can show everyone it's not BS! Here's your chance!"
