I came home from Afghanistan for 18 days of leave back in the good ol' USA after being deployed for 8 months. I did 4 track days and 2 AutoX's. I had a blast both events and both days had a good turnout of FD's. I think each event had 7-8 FD's there. Big thanks to Fritz. I learned more from him at VIR than I have at my previous three track weekends. Holy **** can he drive!!! Thanks for letting me tag along on most of your sessions. Fritz, you'll def. see me back at VIR next summer once I get back home. It was great to meet everyone at the various events and it was good to see some old familiar faces as well. I arrived back in Afghanistan last night and have 7 more months to go until I can get some more seat time.
I also need to thank David Jerome, Dan Chadwick, and Mike Lashlee for helping me out while I was home. Besides the track events I also was able to install my coilovers, porsche big red front brakes, 99spec RZ/RS rear brakes, install the passenger side oil cooler and R1 lines, Widefoot Sway bar mounts and bronze bushings, TP Sway Bar, 3 Defi Gauges, weld in an additional bung for my wideband, install my wideband and gauge, do a little tuning, and a few other things.
None of the pictures are that great as my camera is nothing special and my girlfriend was taking these, but they are pretty good for what she was working with

Nice pics!
Man, I miss that little track (TGPR). I ran it quite a few times in my Miata(s) back when I lived in Atlanta. I've not been since they made the layout changes, but even before they modified the layout it was a fun course.
BTW - are you stationed at Ft. Campbell? I was there (and in SA/Iraq) from '89-'91 with the 2/44 ADA.

I get back to the states in June and will def. be back at VIR for hopefully at least 2 weekends before Sept. It was a great experience overall and a great track that I'm def. hooked on. Just wish my oil return line hadn't sprung a leak on Monday. I'm starting to set up my schedule of track days and am hoping to hit up between 10-12 before Oct.
Speaking of the GT-R's, I should mention that I was impressed with them at little talladega. I was the guy that was sure that the GT-R was nothing but an overpriced, overhyped car. Last year the fastest lap at the Speed for Sale event was a 1:07 and was set by an FD(with sequential BNR stage 3's which are idea for this small road course) with an experienced driver in dry conditions with R Compounds. This year it rained all day. Majority of the faster drivers were running 1:16-1:20's. A GT-R owner who has never been on a track before in his life, on a wet track, and stock car and tires cut a 1:10. I think that says alot about the car, however, I think that takes alot of the fun out of driving(who knows, I haven't driven one). I would like to see what the car could have done in dry conditions with an experienced driver. At $70-90K, that is still more than I am willing to spend on a car though.
Nice pics!

I am stationed at Ft. Campbell. I'm an Infantry Officer with the 101st Airborne. I've been in the infamous "No Slack" in 1st Brigade, for the last year I have been doing PSD for 3 Generals, and I'm about to go to 4th BCT or 506th IN aka "Curahee". It's the same unit that the Band of Brothers" Movie is based off of.
