Yep, Erik repeated as National Champ in SM2 (the bastard ). He laid down great runs both days to take the win. And yet again, SM2 was one of the fastest "real car" classes with RX7's taking the top 2 spots.
Some video of the West course. I'd put the East up too, but had the new camera upside down. D'oh!

Congratulations to you too Andy for your second place finish.
A 0.139-second difference is a testament to your ability with 2 national championships on your mantle already. Give him hell next year

congrats to all you guys and girl
the FD chassis is amazing. Did i see 1.5 g's on that video?
if you are bored, can you list both of your wheel and tire dimensions and brands?
and front and rear sway bar choices?
how did your raw times compare against last years winner in SM in the evo. i forgot his name. the alien.

The Chasecam unit records lateral and longitudinal g's on screen. Some of the spikes are a bit sketchy, but it looks like 1.4-1.5 g's lateral, maybe 1.3-1.4 braking, and .7-.8 accel.
Erik/Beth run a smaller wheel/tire package than I do. They have Hoosier A6 285/30's front and 315/30's rear. I *think* that is with 10.5 wheels (CCW's) all around. I run 315/35 17 front and 335/35 17 rear Kumho V710's on 11.5 and 12.5 wheels (Bogart).
I run a custom blade adjustable front bar that is about 1.25" solid and a stock rear swaybar. I think Erik/Beth have a similar sized front bar and the Racing Beat 19mm rear bar.
Last year we only ran in the dry on one course. Erik already had a big lead from the first day so probably wasn't pushed as hard as he should have been :-). But we both managed to beat Daddio by 0.7 to 1.0 seconds in his Evo.

Andy, thanks for sharing the info. I might consider running in the SP class this coming year if I can find some springs since I'm just not competetive in SS (losing by 1.5-2.0 secs consistently, sometimes more).

Congrats
Another testament to his ability is being selected as the 2008 SCCA Solo Driver of Eminence: "... the SOLO driver who has consitently demonstrated excellence behind the wheel, and exemplary degree of sportsmanship, dedication, and unselfishness..." This award is given out once per year at the Solo Nationals, which attracts about 1100 plus competitors on average.
Andy is a class act, and the main reason I love competing in SM2, soon to be called SSM- Super Street Modified. (administrative mandate to remove numbers from class designtion)
BTW, Andy has 5 Solo National Championships (2 in his current car like you mentioned) and 3 Pro Solo National Championships (1 in his current car).

You are so nice Erik, but I still got BEAT! :-) I'm just excited to be back on big roomy concrete next year so maybe I don't have to squeeze my big fat car through these narrow courses. Just need to make sure I keep reminding Beth how clean the unaltered lines of your car look. ;-)
