Thread resurrection time!
I was casually looking for a steering wheel quick release on eBay and cam across this, uh, thing. Looks pretty cheesy to me and I'm going to stay away unless someone can give it a positive endorsement.

No experience with that product, but my opinion:
Your steering wheel controls your car. if its comes off, bad things usually happen.
I run the piece form this company: http://www.smartracingproducts.com/
A lower priced version of it is available from ltbmotorsports.com

$220 seems a bit steep. A friend used to make adapters to bolt 6 bolt wheels to 3 bolt quick releases so you could get a decent quick release without spending a ton of money and run a nice wheel at the same time.
Ok, just got off the phone with said friend. Doesn't have any more adapters, but still has the blueprints and material. Since I am not flush with cash it looks like I'll go spend some quality time with the lathe and milling machine at his place.

I use the Rebco model with the multi splined adapter. fits nice and tight and is available from the stock car crowd for about $50. http://www.performancebodies.com/sto...0&pf%5Fid=8630

i personally use one from megan racing. its similar to that ball race one that josh posted up.
i have had no issues with it and it lock in SOLID.
the only other one i would trust is the sparco or omp spline drive style.

I was trying to avoid welding to my steering column, but it looks like that will be the least expensive and safest way. This splined quick release is $70 at Speedway Motors and I'd trust it more than any Taiwanese cast aluminum ball-bearing eBay hub.

you see alot of people repackaging alot of standard racing items these days. Alot of racing parts can be bought from big stock car parts companies for alot less money. I had the same company special order a quartermaster clutch and flywheel for my RX7 and it cost me half what the other RX7 race shops wanted including Mazdacomp. the stock car boys buy alot of parts and volume will get you a good price.

I've notice the repackaging myself. I think the coupler I posted is more money as it has an internal spline to mate with a sprint car steering system.

alot of the "splines" are interchangeable. I have used my steering wheel on several different cars. Likely one company came up with the original design and people have been doing knockoff for years.

Found another quick release hub. It's for a Miata, but Miata wheels fit FC steering columns so this should be 100% bolt on.
