Some vids from Summit this weekend - no walls involved

Wife and I hit summit point this weekend for the TrackDaze event at the Shenandoah circuit. ArmitageGVR4 was there too along with WVRX7. There were a couple of FCs and one FB there as well, but i didn't get to talk to them enough to determine if they were active posters here or not.

Anyway, i didn't hit any walls this time and I think i did pretty well considering this was only the 2nd time i've been to this track and i was running solo.

First are the vids. First is a short vid of a 350z spinning in front of me, followed by me almost spinning in the same turn a few laps later. The other two are just 8 or so minutes each of a couple of dry sessions. This was my first advanced event and as such my first event with open passing and let me tell you with the right group of guys it is a hoot. This group of drivers drove very well, had excellent communication, and no one was pushy at all. Loved it. Lots of fun passes in turns, as well as off-line passing.

And here's a few pictures - there are more in the album here if you want to wade through all of them:

Great pictures and videos! What camera and lenses are you using for the picture shots?

Thanks man Camera is a Nikon D70s, using a nikkor 55-200m for the track shots, and 18-70mm and a 50mm f/1.8 for the paddock shots.

Hi Section8!

I would have loved to come over and chat, but I had two students and I rode along with a few others. The white E30 M3.

I was there Saturday in the red 993 and brought the White FC on Sunday. We'll have to catch up the next event

That was you in the E30? God damn you were MOVING. I totally understand about being busy, i was hanging out with my instructor friends and they were on track non-stop.

My next event is Grand East with mazda drivers, you going to that?

I have to agree, it was an amazing weekend. The weather forecast was showing rain all weekend but we only had 1 (of 9) sessions that was wet. A total of 4.5 hours of seat time was available as well, which is the most I've ever done in a weekend before. In both of Joe's long videos, you can see him overtake me with ease :P

Patfat, that white M3 is sick. I had no idea you were attending!

I'll be running group 3 at NASA Hyperfest next month. Hope to see some folks there!

yeah looks just like the carousel at the mighty Nurburgring! Nice!

So how much does a single track day cost? Im talking entry fees, not wear and tear, brakes, fuel, etc.

Most of the clubs run full weekend events and entry fees are in the $3-400 range. Single day events are $2-300. Some clubs are more expensive than others. Big clubs like NASA have racing throughout the weekend so you get less track time but the entry fee is also less. They also tend to have the best flaggers at the high profile weekends. I see you're not in the mid-atlantic region, but check this thread for links to a whole bunch of events/clubs to get a better idea:

Nice catch.

Good turn out also. I'm often the only FD at the track and autox events I attend.

I got to say that I do enjoy track events more on the left coast. Less rain or cold to worry about.

I own Dave's old white FC (see sig). I'm sure he'd love to know that it's been bastardized .

i have the rear of the car stripped, so there's a lot of noise from the car not having carpet, etc. There's something back there that rattles a lot that i haven't pinned down, but since it's basically just a track car now i haven't spent a lot of time trying to figure it out.
