Wink Scuderia Povero's "off" at Motorsport Ranch

Once a year the Dallas area RX-7's get together at Motorsport Ranch and go road racing. It's setup as a "get to know the car" type day, just open lapping. I run there a few times a year and always enjoy blowing by the single turbo FD's with my stock motor

I took the frist two laps a little easy waiting for the tires to come on and then on my first hard lap I locked the front tires at the end of the main straight and slid off I always race with the ABS and the ABS fuse blew while I was on course. Of course I did not realize this until I hit the dirt....

If you ever find yourself with the ABS light on and all the ventilation controls dead, you blew the fuse. The fuse is marked "rear wiper" in the fuse box. I don't even have a rear wiper but I guess Mazda had a reason...

You can download vids here: http://www.speedhost.com/~dennis/

My off is about 5-6 mins into the first vid; the MB in the cloud of smoke The beginning of the vid is a "follow the leader" and that's my car with Jacqueline driving in front of the camera. She didn't want to do any fast laps in the open sessions

My buddy Eric in the first gen went bird hunting in the first vid; you guys have to watch them.

Thanks to umrswimr for shooting them and uploading them.

No damage other than flatspotting tires. I pulled in and checked out the car, then ran the rest of the day

My ego took the biggest hit

That is great video Damon. I wish he had shot some of the second (read slow) run group that I was in. Great job in putting it togeather much thanks to urswimer. I've been told by racers that if your not going off the track once and a while your not driving hard enough. So I guess your a real racer.

I think it was Lance of LA Motorcars fame driving Gordon Monsens former ride. He almost fried my front bumper on the lead and follow laps.

It was his first time to drive the car on a track. I don't think he's a track junkie or anything. I was very surprised he as there. Also present was Chris the owner of Rotory Performance in Garland. We had all the DFW rotary royalty out for the event.....and of course DamonB.

I remember Lance was having a problem with the car overheating. He pulled off a few times to hot pit. He also complained about the turbo being too big.

Edit: I think he and a few other guys should have been in the "slow" run group. I know only one FD passed me in my ITA 12a car.

Pretty much. He comes out for fun; came last year too. The car was fast but Lance couldn't keep it cooled down; it wanted to overheat each time and it was not even hot out there. Seeing the car in person was not what I expected. I have no idea of the car's history since all the pics from Gordon redoing the interior, but I honestly didn't care for it.
