Premix
Hello,
Wondering what a good amount of premix is to run in my fuel.
Removed the stock oiling system on my race car.
What is everyone running? I'm assuming at a certain point it will start messing up my octance level.
Andrew.

I run 100:1 (250 ml for 25 L). I have a handy 250 ml container left over from some additive which I fill and upend into a 25L fuel jug before filling. Between blending 50%50% C16 and 94 octane premium and the oil I feel like a mixoligist.

I've found performance increases all the way up to about 1:70 (roughly 2oz/gallon), haven't tested any richer than that.
Even this amount should not cause smoking at idle. But, the way I see it, if power keeps going up, that must mean that internal friction is going down, and if internal friction is going down, that must be better for the engine.
I wouldn't run it that rich on the street, mind you. I run about 1:200 on the street.

When I was using RA super seals I ran 50:1 premix (quart on fill up) and the stock OMP set to go to max on a turbo car.
Seals still wore the holy hell out of the housings, but I had minimal smoking with the right premix (I like Mercury Quicksilver) and man the engine so clean on the inside, very light carbon in exhaust ports only @25k miles.
Cause of death- egt probe broke/melted off and pinched cornerseal.
Only time I had an issue with too much premix is when I put in a quart, drove to the gas station and put in 10+gallons of gas. The short drive of 20:1 premix fouled the trailing plugs and I had to rotate them into lead position. BTW, not much smoke.
