my first auto-x
Sorry if I posted in the wrong section, just thought I'd share my very first auto-x with you guys. This one was at a huge parking lot in St. Paul, MN. Auto sports are one of the reasons why choose to own the RX7.
People starting to show up
While walking the course I spent more time on finding a good shot than studying the slaloms, which I should've been doing. On my first run I got lost and killed some cones...
mmm, nice...
Another rx7 owner skillfully attacking a slalom.
Well, I've never done this before so I got horrible times... probably the slowest of all. It was very nice to see a few other RX7's there and meeting the drivers.
All day, I was worried that my car would overheat but my not-so-acurate gauge steadily stays at 1/4.
It was very fun and safe. I'm deffinetly going to do it again.

thanks for the pics. dont worry about the bad times and dead cones, its all a learning experience. as long as your having fun and staying safe, thats all that matters. this is my rookie year autocrossing as well and im still learning from race to race. just keep your eyes open and listen to advice. good luck, enjoi.
Autometer gauges are pretty good. i have one, but for some reason it doesnt work (bad install), and i havent gotten around to fixing it. i have a power fc with commander, so that tells me accurate water temps. heres some gauges from autometer:

My autometer works just fine for me. I spliced it into the throttle body line with barb fittings. when it's 180, the fans are kicking on, so it's accurate enough for me.

I went to an auto-x a few weeks back with my brother and cousin. I have an 86 gxl, my brother has an 05 focus and my cousin has a 90 eclipse gst. Me and my cousin didnt pass inspection because our batteries werent held in good enough, so we didnt get to run that day. My brother ran and my cousin rode with him, was cool just getting to see the cars do the course, especially when it was my brother, becasue I knew him. He ran 3 seconds slower than a 350z, and it was his first one too. He did great.
