New Auto-X Set-up?

The BASE BEATER is running well. I have started to rethink my plans.

I am going to weigh the car monday. Base SE, no sunroof, manual steering and AC.

I already converted it to a Manual Trans, and Installed the GXL Booster and Master Cylinder.

I think the following is in order:
5 Lug Swap
BBS vert rims
GTUs 4.3 LSD rear

Of course the KYB AGX's and Eibach Pros's with a proper alignment will be performed


This should give me a fairly competitive AUTO-X set-up

Any thoughts?

Sounds pretty good. For CSP, that's a pretty decent start. You've got a lot to contend with though ... well-prepped CSP Miatas are tough to beat. If you're wanting to be truly competitive, I'd recommend some higher grade shocks and springs or coilovers. And upgrade your swaybars.

Hey Banzai.

How about this. Bring the Frankenstien 7 to the fairgrounds July 19th and make a few laps. Then you can see some of the competition, find flaws or weaknesses in the car and make the appropriate adjustments.

RedrotorR1 is right, a well prepped CSP Miata will give you the fits, the supercharged ones are all over me in SM2 in the 94. Coilovers with more spring rate than you'll really like on the street and race skins should get you close in CSP though. You could always gut it and come to SM2 if you'd like. Reese wants some competition, and my wife is running the Neon in G Stock.

I plan on coming the 19th. I'll be running just KYB AGX's and the 4 lug base suspension, unless a rush of adrenalin curses thru my body

I had a really good time last year running in CSP with street tires against a beefed up Miata with autoX tires. We were neck & neck the whole time, but since I got my Hoosiers he's no longer competetive.
With street tires, GC coilovers & tokicos, I've always been in the top running in CSP. Still 4 lug too.
I guess the only reason you can't run in a stock class is the Eibach pros, but no one has to know . Those are nice springs, but I found stability under breaking is a little shakey. Linear Eibachs fixed that problem!

You need camber plates or someway of getting some negative camber up front. I'm thinking you'll need around 2 degrees, maybe a little more. Depends on your setup of course.

Zach,

The driver in the Miata must have sucked. No way a FC with street rubber is competitive against a race tire wearing Miata. Send us the link to results page(s).

I'm not the fastest guy out there, sometimes it rained so results are sometimes skewed. If you do some looking you'll notice that sometimes a CSP Miata isn't very far behind me, or even faster...

Like I said, the Miata driver had to suck. No offense you you but the Spider and Miata are somewhat similar performance cars, the Spider seems to be well driven, 2-4 secs is a lot of time. A well driven Miata is hands down better than a well driven FC. That is why you don't see many FC in CSP at any type of national events.

Not saying you can't have fun in a FC either it's just the Miata is lighter and has better suspension geometry.

The spider is a national guy. He always wins. His car is trailored and is not even close to street legal, while the rest of the guys in my class drive to the track.

Not even close to street legal? You are in *C Street Prepared* right? You can't really do anything to the car to make it not street legal except for removing the cat or adding an intake or something while staying in CSP. If he is a national type guy I'm sure he wouldn't do anything obviously against the rules.

I'm sure he means unstreetable. Most cars prepped to the level of national competition are running springs and/or shocks so stiff that driving on the street would feel like a mild root canal.
