My first auto x

Hey, got to go to my first autocross up in Marina, CA yesterday. Don't have the FD anymore and didn't wanna bring my new car to something I have never tried before, so the Neon got to go. I don't think I did too bad with the excuse of tires I have on it. I don't guess Adam C is gonna make a post, but I got to ride with him in his FD. Let's just say Adam C is a damn good driver AND the FD is one sweet auto x'r. Not to mention that his FD is hella fast too. I was suprised at how well the Miatas and S2ks performed though. Too much fun...I hope I get to do it again and try out the Evo the next time.

Oh, cool! I wanted to get out to Marina but didn't manage it.. My friend Hugo was supposed to bring his Pro7 to be 1st gen out there, maybe you say him.

Neons can hustle around the cones pretty good too..

I drove my S2K at that event, but didn't like having to downshift to 1st 3 times. NASA events can have abnormally tight and difficult to follow sometimes. Still working on the FD for next year. Glad you had fun on that course, pretty much anything else will get better!

David, Thanks for the praise on my driving. I felt like I did pretty well beating the Vettes, and everyone else (I think) that was running on non-R tires. Especially since I had not raced for 16 months, and had worn out tires. I had the white FD. My best time was 64.5xx.

AMRX7 Did you have the silver S2000? Was there more than one. How did you do? I wish I knew you were a forum member. It would have been nice to chat. I posted a thread on the West Forum, asking who was going, but there was not much response.

David, you did a great job for the first time. Improving your time every run was great.

No, I drove a black S2K in the 4th run group with Street Modified (though the car is technically a BS legal car). Alot of my friends were running then. My best time was a 58.7xx, but I think that had a cone (the results don't show it, though).

I'm new to the forum, having just purchased an FD a month or so ago to run in ASP or SM2 next year. Hopefully we'll have the RX7 out to run in October or so.

I ran in the 4th group also. 58.7xx was one of the fastest times of the day. I don't think anyone was anywhere close to the 56.xx that the prepared M3 ran. I knew the woman driver of that car. I used to race with her many years ago. The next event there is the weekend of September 14th. I have not yet decided about going. If one of us is going, we should post a thread in the west forum.

Sorry, I won't be able to make the Sep. 14th event, I'll be at the Solo II Champs. in Kansas. We're going to try and make some of the SCCA Slush Series events, but that will kind of depend on how the car work goes. Still on jackstands at the moment waiting for the suspension to come back.

The M3 Chris and Pilar run is pretty awesome. Probably around 260hp at the wheels, but only 2200lbs and big race slicks = fun.

Good luck in Kansas. Thats a long trip. I hope you don't get rained on!!

I have known Pilar and her Brother Fred for more than 20 years. I know about Fred. She used to race this screaming fast 510. Boy, that brings back some old memories.

I don't know what engine mods have been done to the M3, if any. I thought the M3 was around 260 rwhp stock. Maybe thats for the new ones.

Is this hijacking??

David, The EVO is nice. Definitely an improvement on the Neon for racing. Thanks for the ride.

HA!HA! Hijack all ya want!

That BMW was really loud...260 hp?! Wow, that thing was really quick if that was all it had!

No problem with the ride and all Adam. You still owe me an ***-whoopin' (I know I reminded you but I had to put it in print!) with your FD. I don't think I told you about the kill after the race on Sunday night, did I? Just a plain ol' Celica GT (think it was a '98 or '99???) but the Neon still had a little bit of race left after that day!

sounds like fun you guys......

Adam: the E36 M3s were around 240HP with the special model, Lightweights having more HP and weighting less. They are white with the checkered flag in ///M colors on the back passenger side of the car if I remember correctly.

The new E46 M3s should be around 289RWHP to get a number of 333HP with the numbers I crunch.

rx7dave77: They were talking about RWHP, so thats just about 300HP in a car that weights 2200 pounds.

Damn! That's be like having 300 hp in my Neon with a little weight reduction! I'd like to take a ride in that...what kind of 1/4 mile times would they do?
