Help me! At the track losing oil pressure
I write this from a phone in the paddock at njmp.
84 gsl-se pretty much stock.
So when car is cold/ regular temp oil is at 70lbs. Great.
Out on track for 20-30 minutes the temperature starts to rise to about 3/4 and I notice that in power at about 6-7 k rpm the oil pressure is at about 30lbs
If I keep the Rs lower still racing the pressure comes back to about 60 and temp comes down to half...
Any suggestions would be so appreciated.
... Obviously a bad oil pump is suspect but being as I am at a race track in southern jersey... Ain't gunna happen.
Oh yes and I run 20w50 oil.

sounds like your oil temps are too high. Get an oil temp gauge as rotaries generally need two coolers for oil on the track. Also a good breather is important to prevent blowby and losing all your oil out the breather.

Racing beat sells the an fitting that fit the block and there is nothing wrong with a eBay 10an oil cooler. I like nylon braided line because its so easy to work with but not sure if its tech approved. You could have a nice oil cooler setup around $200. I would also upgrade the cooling system and watch your fuel pressure wide band while driving. Your over heating condition might be related to a lean condition.

Thanks everyone for responding.
Going to run the car and short shift. Wish me luck.
