Got a line on possibly getting an RJS Drag Racing Fuel Cells 10993 from a guy but was wondering if anyone knew what the certifications were on it since no one seems to list them online (basically can it run with SCCA since they require FIA cert) Also whats the idiots guide to plumbing one into a stock FB fuel system (currently with suspected bad fuel pump)?

 

Not legal in an SCCA class that requires a cell. I have not looked lately but cells like that used to be allowed in IT because it isn't required to run a cell.

The stock tank is lower than you are allowed to mount a cell, keep it if you can.

 

As a rule. if there is not any certs listed. It has none, and is not legal.
Spend the money on a Holly red fuel pump. You can deal with having a few extra gallon's to stop the fuel starvation till you get the cash for a cell.
I run a 1/2" line from the pump to the carb.

 

Kinda what I figured about the certs but cant blame a guy for checking (guy that has it hasn't even heard of FIA but said it did have a SFI cert). That said part of the reason Im looking into fuel cells is because for my current project (basically another Spec7) I want to build to the full extent of the rules and put every safety item in the car I can (cell, halo seat, suppression system etc) within the rules. That said the CG aspect never even crossed my mind based on how low some of the prod cars are around here (easy 2-3" below the rear bumper) but in theory yes the tank is higher up but it weighs less due to less fuel content and furthermore its sloshing around a lot less then in a stock tank (my current car gets down right tail happy if you put to much fuel in) ....at least I think that makes sense

 

FYI the FIA certification isnt really on the cell itself but on the bladder. That being said to certify the bladder it must be used in a cell it was designed for.
