See vid from the Mazda event. I had to take a little detour because of some crosstown traffic
I'll look for a good lap time and upload the vid asap. Most likely nothing spectacular I'm still just cruising until I have some good brakes, tires, the engine is broken in, etc....

Just one car but he hit so hard he bounced right back across in front me. Even with the detour I just missed what was left of his front bumper.
The best lap I have so far is 2:17 flat which is about what I expected. Not shabby but not impressive either. This car still has a bit of fine tuning before I can really woop its little ***. Just one weekend and it has an oil leak, vacuum leak, and exhaust leak. NO joke, you just gots to love these cars to put up with all there little tantrums. Oh and on the first day during my second session the fuel pump fuse blew and I thought I lost the engine again. Still shaking from that.

Damian...........thanks for all the tips on camera's etc.............I have to go see what 3ccd even means.........been a while since I was at the camera store.............
Fritz.........your detour can also be called "the great escape"..............getting kinda envious here..........seems like you're "tracking" every dang weekend and all I get to do is 4-5 events per year...........I think it's time to re-negotiate the contract with the wife..............
Great stuff though............what's your camera setup by the way? Digital too I presume, since they're MPEG files...........any thoughts on cameras.........your videos are SO much better than my crappy VHS-C 'ers........

3ccd just means it has 3 chips to capture the image data, one for red, one for green, one for blue... 1 ccd cameras have to capture all the image data on one chip, thus the 3ccd camera haas supirior color reproduction and overall quality

hahah fritz, i am with ya on that!!!

Hiya Fritz
Been watching all your videos here at work over the last few months.. and have to say you take real nice lines.. and are very smooth.
The run with the Z06 where he blew, and you did as well.. I think it is funny.. he was driving very.. well aggressively.. Not smooth at all.. and it shows watching the video, you take smoother lines, better track placement smoother entrance and exits.. (There were a few that werent.. but there was slower trafic etc LOL)
But you not only beat him down with driving.. you motored him down in all the tighter track portions. He would pull you on the long runs.. but you quickly regained all the ground on braking alone.
Thanks very much for the vids.. makes me work all that harder on getting my EPcar done.. LOL

Fritz,
A 2:17? You're slipping! And with a single turbo car no less
FWIW I see vacuum drop from a normal 16-17 to below 15 when hot after a days track work. Try it when the car is cold and it might come back up (down)...mine always does.
Nice to see you this weekend BTW

Hey, just be proud of Fritz for not braking anything on his car this time around :-)
I need one you two to be my instructor next time. I pushed hard this time and all I got was a 2:23--probably ok for victoracers and stock brakes but not enough to play with the big boys. Until next year...
Crispy, nice to put a face with a name. It was great meeting lots of people this weekend.

Definitely slipping and sliding way too much. In fact Ramon's wife said "you have got to be the sloppyest driver I have ever seen"
I can hear the vacuum leak, I found the exhaust leak but managed to brake a bolt off in the wastegate. I am seriously very dangerous with a tool in my hand. I'll just have to go see my genius mechanic again. Need to pick up the hoosiers, put on a new brake kit, etc....which may help me get back on the good foot
Great to see you as well and hopefully we can get on the track together and have some fun soon. When's your next event?
Fritz

Keep in mind the straight at BIR is a mile long. A stock Z06 evidently makes 158 going into turn 1.
If you have the stock 5th gear you'd notice a disproportionate drop in RPM shifting into 5th. You'll shift high in 4th to 4000-4500 rpm in 5th. I'm sure you noticed on the blue car, like I do on mine, you might not notice it as much on the yellow car.
If you do have the stock gear, that might make a good winter upgrade for next year. What RPM are you hitting at 160 mph?

Nice seeing Fritz and Crispy at VIR. Fritz finally got to see my car in person and Crispy and I actually ended up on track at the same time for possibly the first time in many events. As for lap times, the track was very greasy during the instructor sessions (don't know about the others). The lap times my friend got from his wrist watch were off about 2-3 seconds from previous visits.

Nice seeing you again and glad I was able to talk to you about your car.
I agree the track did seem a bit slippery. Turns 1, 6, 16 and 17 especially.

After thinking about Sundays track conditions I looked at the video tape from Saturday and found a 2:16 in slight traffic. Somebody must have been leaking something around the entire track.........Probably Crispy with that damn catch can messing up my lap times
