haha, i just traded in my 6.0. Excellent truck, forgettable engine. Have a 2014 Ram/Cummins now. Anyway, looks like my car is very similar to your, i bet you're at least 20 seconds faster than me..lol
How do the brakes hold up? I imagine I'm a lot harder on brakes than you are since you can drive so much better than I can. I have HP+ pads f/r and had a little fade at gateway park last year coming off the main straight into turn 1, which was 140-80 or so, but fairly short track so not as much recovery time between hard braking events. Just wondering if its pad or technique or a little of both.

Brakes held up great, stock everything with hawke blues which is what I'd recommend you run as well. Approx 280 track miles and not much pad or rotor wear, but boost was way down to keep temps under control (saw 70c intake so backed off and saw 100c water so backed off, max speeds were approx 135 indicated likely about 130 or less real speed. Technique makes a huge difference. Probably took me 10 years to learn to brake decent LOL.
The pad and rotor killer is the last 100 yards when you are taking off another 20 mph that's not needed hehe, it's not when you get into the brakes but when you release them that really counts. Certainly braking late is beneficial but not at a cost to a balanced fast consistent entry.

I pull all the time and drive 30k a year, a diesel works well for me. If you dont tow all the time, 8k buys a ton of gas. I've had my new truck 3 months and already have 8k miles on it, 18mpg ownership average, high of 20, low of 15. Tow 10k a few times a week. The new 6.4 Hemi is a beast and the new Ram 2500's ride awesome with the coil rear suspension, really good trucks despite a few typical quality shortcomings vs a ford truck. Anyway, sorry for the sidetrack. I can talk just about any vehicle, sports cars or trucks..lol
I'm gonna get some blues and a 2nd set of rotors for track use then when i start hitting them regularly again. Thanks for the info. I really didnt want to invest in a big brake setup. I also only run 10psi on the track to try and keep temps down. At gateway it was ~100* on track and i got over 240 on water temps a few times

Subject: Instructors needed for Teen Driving School at VIR this weekend!
Hey everyone...
Chuck Hawks reached out to me today... looks like the Teen Driving Solutions school this weekend at VIR had a few instructors back out, and they are in need of three or so willing/able participants.
Chuck and Dan Wagner run an awesome program for teens using the O'Gara Crown Vics, both on the skid pad, and on Patriot course (staged exercises).
I think their main need would be for Sunday, but I'm not sure on that (waiting for clarification).
If you're interested, please contact Chuck at chuckh@teendrivingsolutions.com or Dan at dan@teendrivingsolutions.com
Or reply to me and I'll forward it to them
More info on the program here: Teen Driving School With Focus on Family
Thank you!!

If not I'll be in a different car because the R2 sold
Maybe the low mileage 95 R2 and we'll see what a bone stock FD can do on the newly paved VIR.

Fritz, you should SO do One Lap of America one of these years. I think you'd do great. Just mount a trailer hitch on the back of your FD to tow those Hoosiers . In fact, the 2014 event is all East of the Mississippi!

I would definitely donate. It would be interesting to see what category a modded FD would fall into. A friend of mine here in AZ did it back in the early 2000s and finished near the top, but that was before most of the new American muscle hit the streets. Fritz driving skills would definitely help the cause.

That's the thing. I'm pretty sure you have to use street tires(and only one set if I remember correctly) during OLOA. You can't drive on one set and switch to another at the track. I could be wrong as I haven't read the rules this year.

I'm hell on tires so I'd have to tighten up and be smooth etc.....
I don't think I'd go with a stockish FD just because it wouldn't be that fun to drive but at the same time driving to the various tracks in a track FD might not be worth the punishment and softer springs would force me to be smooth..... blah blah.
Anywho it's a lot to think about but I am giving it serious consideration.

I dont know what Treadwear is the limit , but I know the new BFG rivals are supposed to be pretty rugged . I'm gonna see if I can look up some stuff while I'm on epic hold time here at work .

FROM: JOHN RASTETTER - TIRE RACK
PRODUCT INFO MEMO: 13 - 050
DATE: DECEMBER 2, 2013
SUBJECT: 2014 Tire Rack One Lap Of America Tire Policy
The 2014 Tire Rack One Lap of America organized by Brock Yates is the modern evolution of the infamous Cannonball Baker Sea-To-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dashes of the 1970's. As such, these annual contests challenge automotive manufacturers, vehicle tuners and driving enthusiasts alike.
Competition in the 31st Tire Rack One Lap of America will start at Tire Rack's headquarters in South Bend, Indiana on Saturday, May 3, 2014. The first event will be a wet skidpad challenge conducted at Tire Rack before the competitors begin their weeklong trek stopping off at many of America's racetracks for timed competition. The final performance test in this year's event will be a dry (weather permitting) skidpad challenge at Tire Rack on Saturday, May 10, followed by the awards presentation.
Eligible Tire Brands
The Tire Rack One Lap of America competitors can select tires from the participating tire brands listed below in 2014:
BFGoodrich
Bridgestone
Continental
Dunlop
Firestone
General
Goodyear
Hankook
Kumho
Michelin
Pirelli
Yokohama
Each vehicle is required to be equipped with tires from a single brand.
Offering these multiple tire brands should reduce the difficulties of finding appropriate sized tires to fit unique vehicles, as well as minimize problems due to availability from the tire manufacturers.
The same set of tires will be used throughout the event unless changes are deemed necessary for safety reasons by the organizers.
Two spare tires and wheels are permitted. Because many vehicles entered in Tire Rack One Lap of America are fitted with different sized tires and wheels on their front and rear axles, one spare tire and wheel for each size used on the vehicle can be carried in the vehicle or on a tag-a-long trailer.
Regardless of what tires were fitted to a vehicle as Original Equipment, only street legal tires with a minimum UTQG Treadwear Rating of 140 will be allowed. No racing slicks or Track & Competition DOT-legal tires will be permitted.
Tire shaving is not permitted and all tires, including spare tires, must begin the event with a minimum of 7/32-inch tread depth (to be confirmed during pre-event vehicle inspection) and complete the event with a minimum of 2/32-inch of remaining tread depth (to be confirmed during post-event vehicle inspection) at no less than 2 points around the tire's circumference that are approximately 180-degrees apart.
In order to assure that all tires are standard street legal tires as sold by their manufacturers to the general public; all participants are required to purchase the tires they use during the event directly from Tire Rack.
The 2014 One Lap of America tires will have unique identification permanently branded into their sidewall to clearly identify their origin. Vehicles will not be allowed to participate in the event unless their tires have the required identification branding.
Tires must be purchased and installed on competition vehicles before they arrive in South Bend for registration. This will allow tires to be broken-in before the event and minimize the possibility of newly mounted tires slipping on the wheels during rapid acceleration or braking, which could allow them to go out of balance and cause vibrations.
Tires purchased through this program are not returnable, even if they have never been mounted.
Competitors who wish to use tires left over from the 2013 OLoA event (unused spare tires, for example) will be allowed to do so provided that:
? tires are of a brand participating in the 2014 event (see above list)
? tires are identified with their "OLOA 2013" branding
? have at least 7/32-inch of tread depth at the beginning of the 2014 event
Competitors with any doubts about the eligibility of their 2013 tires should contact Tire Rack.
Tire Selection
Since the team's cumulative track time is used to determine the winner, most One Lap of America competitors will be best served by tires from the following Tire Rack tire categories:
Extreme Performance Summer
Max Performance Summer
Ultra High Performance Summer
Street/Sport Truck Summer
With Tire Rack approval, teams may select tires from other tire categories manufactured by the participating tire manufacturers.
If none of the participating tire brands offers a tire size that can be fitted to the vehicle, then Tire Rack will consider approving alternate street tires.
Tire Sponsorship
The participating tire manufacturers have agreed to sponsor all 2014 Tire Rack One Lap of America teams using their product by supporting a 25% rebate fulfilled by Tire Rack for tires purchased directly from Tire Rack. The 25% rebate will be based on the selling price identified on the www.tirerack.com website at the time of purchase and applies only to the cost of tires. It does not apply to the cost of any other products, taxes or shipping.
Teams can purchase a total of 10 tires for their OLoA registered vehicle that will be eligible for the rebate (four tires are suggested for pre-event testing with the remaining six tires for use/spares during the event). While teams may desire to compare tires from different manufacturers in their pre-event testing, regardless of which tires are selected, only the first 10 tires per registered vehicle will receive the 25% rebate. Additional tires for use in the event must be bought through Tire Rack to receive the required tire identification branding and will be sold at our everyday low retail prices. They will not be eligible for any discount or rebate.
In order to process tire orders quickly, the team representative ordering tires will ultimately receive multiple invoices. The first invoice will be for the full cost of the tires and shipping. The second will be for the 25% rebate, which will be processed after event organizers confirm the team has completed registration at Tire Rack and their entered vehicle has begun competition.
During event registration and vehicle inspection, the tire manufacturer's name will be painted on the outboard sidewalls of all tires to be used in competition.
The tire manufacturer's logo will be required to be placed on both sides of the vehicle.
Participant Order Processing
Only a team representative whose name appears on the OLoA website's final 2014 Entrants List will be eligible for the rebate, The team representative should call toll free (888) 370-8473 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Eastern Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Identify themselves as a One Lap of America competitor, and provide entrant and vehicle information.
NOTE: Competitors cannot place One Lap of America tire orders through tirerack.com because the website cannot implement the unique identification branding required by the program rules or process the competitors' rebate.
UPS or FedEx Ground Service is the most cost effective method available, and usually results in one- to two-day deliveries. Overnight service is available, but expensive due to the weight of tires.

Basically you get one set of 140 TW or more tire so the best of the bunch I think is the BFG rivals <-- due to previous they last longer reasons LOL , you get 2 spares . LOL
also since its street tire you may be able to soften the springs for the less grip and the ride wont be tooooooo terrible hah

May 2014 on the VIR Full Course with PCA First Settlers for instructor training and HPDE
Met up with several OG forum members and we had a super good time together
Patrick Harris (aka patfat on this forum) brought out his BEAUTIFUL 993 cup prepped 911 which he just had freshly painted, installed cup trans, etc..... and ran a record lap time (2.09) which I think was 2 seconds better than his previous best.
Ramon Ceron had his highly modded 996 GT3 and he also ran a record lap time of 2.05 which was also about 2 seconds faster than his previous best of 2.07 which he did the previous month with David Murray.
Bill Rankin was there in his FC (My FD wasn’t the loan RX7) which is an all business type car and he was hounding people through the turns and reading usa today down the straights.
Peter Hahn (AKA ptrhahn on the forum) with some lame work excuse (he just doesn’t seem to realize that work doesn’t come before track) again left me in the trenches (red group) yet again to fight off the GT3s, vettes etc…. ALL BY MYSELF, ALL ALONE ………………….love you man and missed you!
Sadly I didn't run any spectacular laps but possibly a little fastER than my last recorded 2.03 (several 2.03 laps this time) but I feel like I have a 2.02 no problem and even lower if I dare to turn the boost up. I suffered through my normal video problems with cards running out etc…. and probably missed my best laps .
Along with that I had my usual issues that are always part of the FD tack life etc….
Wasn't able to get the car inspected (too busy running to meetings etc…) which meant I couldn't drive during the morning sessions so decided I may have enough time to changed the pads before the 3 o'clock session started LOL............it really did take me about 3 hours to change the front and rear pads between instructor training etc..... leave me alone, I'm getting old, have ADD, experimented with drugs in my youth and have been hit in the head a few too many times, DON'T JUDGE!!!
Cracked my front rotor but brought along some spares
Corded my tires and of course had an extra set of fresh c51s
Fuel was still getting in the oil so had to change the oil twice to keep it from overflowing.
HOWEVER something miraculous happened Sun, the fuel wasn't getting in the OIL Ray at PFS thinks it was originally the tune which he corrected and it appeared to be a problem Fri and Sat because there was still enough fuel in the oil system that when it got hot it was expanding so after the two changes the majority of the fuel dilution was finally removed.
The diff is still leaking. It held for the afternoon session on Fri and the two morning sessions Sat but began oozing in the hot afternoon session. Will have a cooler added asap
The cage work I had done was F#CKING TERRIBLE. The damn thing had all kinds of issues but worst of all it isn't even symmetrical so that thing must come out, also lots of safety issues too, extremely bummed about the cage work.
The paint work I had done is decent but the paint is already bubbling out where the repair work was done. Don't ask who did either don't want to go there.
Again had another student in a 302 boss mustang and those cars really do rock. This one was heavily tracked prepped and really nice.
Stay tuned for more video and pics

Fastest recorded lap of the weekend was a 2.03 flat from bridge to bridge. Really difficult to get complete open laps at this event but this was the 2nd to last session Sunday so I had some open laps but about the time I got free my vid guard was out of space. I was driving my *** off sweating bullets, breathing like darth vader and didn't even realize until after the checker

Ramon's 6 Gt3 has about 13k miles on it, IT's seriously the cleanest one I've ever seen and he rips out the interior, installs a cage etc...... dude has ***** of steal on and off the track lol
I think you tell which car belongs to the "Cheap Bastard Racing Team"
