Yep, Pete was tearing it up. I had some decent video following Pete and also some video where I was terribly over driving on my old 888s w/ Ed Hahn in the passenger seat but like a dumb *** I deleted my card As usual effing up my videos hehe.

Pat you missed a great event, you better make it for the FSR event in may

I'll post up some details later but here's my one and only vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w09v_947ygs

Here's a short video of the pulley failure, and subsequent coolant overheat and coolant droppage. This probably also killed the bearing/oil seal

Only video?!?! Well... With my slow *** Afghanistan internet, I've only been able to load the first lap... which appears to be a 2:04. Ain't no "Almost" about that brother! And oh BTW, it looks like about half the track is still wet! Only Fritz Flynn! Any idea what kind of times you were running throughout the weekend?

Major bummer Pete It's been incredible how many miles and how much abuse that engine has withstood. Any idea what the plan is from here?

Pete,
Again dude that was one killer catch handled like a pro

Can't believe the pulley literally fell off of the bearing WOW!!

Glad you didn't ball the car up sliding through the coolant but seeing the dark cloud of doom down the front straight just sucked

Erin was home sick all week w/ the flu and gave it to both me and Morgen so I was really sick all weekend with a slight fever and throbbing headache and chest ache when I coughed but I was tossing back all kinds of medicine which kept me rolling along w/ the track juice. There were 20 plus GT3s in Red and 60 cars overall so it was difficult getting open laps. Those are the last 4 or 5 laps of the Sunday morning session after breaking through tons of traffic to find some space.

I was sooo worn out from not sleeping and feeling bad (3 day event and a little over 300 miles of driving) that I left after that morning session. It probably took me two hours to pack up and get out of there.

I had 6 crazy sessions on the old 4 year old 888s that were really entertaining including one with Ed Hahn riding with me running in the Black group which was a fun run.

I was running really low boost (spring pressure 8 psi) the 1st 3 or 4 sessions and then turned it up to around 11 or 12 psi and was probably managing 2.07s on the 888s.

I'm more consistent and faster through the esses but also really close to the edge so need to be careful. I love the new tight line in turn one and have much more going into 3 but the track was slippery and couldn't really push there.

Either way... 2:04 is super impressive dude! No telling what you could manage on some A's. Hope you and the family are feeling better. See you guys trackside in less than 2 months.

2:04 is ROLLING.

OK, here's my best 2:08.1... chasing "Dr. Sportsmanship" in the ALMS GT3. Turns out, this would be THE final hot lap for my motor after 12 years... I went in after this lap, and it gave up before the first hot one the very net session. This was only the third lap, first session of the day having only run one the day before... I'm still getting warmed up and leaving a lot on the table at the end of the straight, into the esses, and into hog pen, but at least Fritz isn't crushing me on old tires anymore. There was at LEAST a high 2:06 coming this weekend, if I could have gotten the seat time.

I'm going to do everything I can to be there in May.

BTW, I picked up an AIM Solo lap timer, and it works great. Turn it on and drive, you don't even have to mark the start/finish. I also added a 330mm Sparco Suede wheel, and it was perfect.

That's cool about the AIM Solo Pete. I had another friend pick one up recently and has been really happy with it as well.

I'm really hoping you can make it in May. Any idea what route you are going to go with the new engine? used, have one built, etc?

This was the lap I was following Pete and couldn't get close enough to get good video but even with the vid from a few cars back it was pretty good and shows how well his car is pulling and sticking I wish I hadn't deleted the card but I was completely out of it and way worse than usual so you can imagine the gravity of the situation LOL. Example I carried vice grip from the track back to the hotel for some reason hehe.

Any who the vid showed just how well his car is pulling and how settled it is through the turns. The JRZs along with the new susp parts etc...etc.. really have Pete's car locked in. I'd estimate Pete's power at about 350 on twins with good temps all the way across the board even on HOT days. When cup cars driven by instructor level drivers (even poorly driven ones) don't leave you in the dust you have reached BAD *** track status.

I had the track record in TTS back in 06 with a low 2.08 or high seven (can't remember the exact time) and that's what Pete's currently running with a 10nth of the track time I have under his belt. Bottomline: The almost racing track dogs have talent

PS Brent check that save out WOW. Not a place we usually get loose and it was a snap over steer situation from slippery fluid.

PSS Pete you'll be happy to know that after you went in early for gas I eventually passed "Dr Sportsman"

Yeah, those were freaking quick hands and an incredible save. Def. not the place you want something like that to happen. Man! I can't wait to get back on track. In the meantime, I'll be watching Pete's video tonight once I leave work here in a few minutes. Like you said Fritz, Pete's car is a well put together, total package FD.

BTW, the FSR weekend will be my last single weekend. Making an honest woman out of Laura the following weekend. I can only pull the wool over her eyes for so long before she realizes she is waaaaaay too good for me.

THSCC absolutely rocks

Great time this weekend on VIRs North Course. Instructors were given loads of track time with two different run groups to run in so 8 25 minute sessions if you were up to the task and students had 4 25 minute run sessions. Put 275 miles on the odometer.

NOW top that off with time trials at the end of each day. Seriously HPDE just can't get any better than this. AGAIN I highly recommend driving with this club

The FD worked it's magic on the short technical N course getting the FTD both days with a 1.35 on Sat. and 1.36 on Sunday. I was completely over joyed w/ the 35 because I was hoping for a 36. The weather was perfect (70 with a slight breeze at 5 PM) and my tires (hankook c51s) only had 4 heat cycles on them and this combo made the 35 possible.

The fam came down and gave me plenty of love and support and there's no way I would of run that TT on Sunday without there help. THANKS FD wife I love you

PS I'll post up some video in the next day or two.

Hells Yeah! That's 5 seconds faster than the NASA TTS North Course record and 4 seconds off of Danny Popp's TTU record... No. Big. Deal!

Sounds like an awesome weekend driving alot of miles, some good competition, and great time with the family! Doesn't get any better than that! Question: How many new dry erase "decorations" are on the wall of the trailer now?

Can't wait until May!

YUP May should be a BLAST!!!

Sadly the big trailer has been sitting it out so far this year but it will likely see action in May

The hardware was a little light. Next fastest was a well prepped c6 t1 with a 38 or 39. Danny Popp is a frikken alien I can't touch that nonsense but if you stuck me in the seat of his car I'd give it a go fo sho fo sho

Hey Fritz,
Just wanted to throw out the possibility of the Skid pad on Thursday prior to FSR
in May. I definitely need some practice in "car control" and "catching it" before it gets
away from me. BTW; got the quarter panel straightened out with a lot of help from
my friend and band mate across the street. Ready to hang the new door and fender
next day or so.
Congrats on the wedding bells Brent! Look forward to seeing all you folks in May...

Cheers! Dave

I'll call VIR and check on rates and availability etc..... I'm in and I'll check w/ some others and see.

If Pete has his car ready I'm sure he'd be up for it.

The card was out of space so I had to delete it but thankfully THIS TIME it was saved on Erin's Computer I just need to put it on a zip or thumb drive or something and then upload it onto mine. I have the 1.36 lap on My computer so I may upload that at some point.

I'll also upload a fun vid at some point if I find something worthy. I shot video EVERY session
