Check out this race car

This car is for sale, and will be on ebay-Motors soon. He wants no less than $6500. The car has at least $15,000.00 invested but just got married and the car has to go.

Would you guy's pay $6500 for this puppy?

Backround

Car raced in endurance races in the early 80's at Daytona and Sebring and did pretty well.(I think GTU class)

12A BridgePort
webber downraft
Custom widebody
weld wheels 5-lug 12"rear 10"front
Corvette brakes all around (fully adjustable)
ford rear end
tralier included

I'll get more details

Pics came out blurry(sorry) I'll take some better ones tomorrow

BTW: the rust on the tube chassis is being taken care of.

i dont think its worth that in its current condition, but im cheap. does it come with any spares? does the car run? you would have to do a bit of work just to make it race worthy, then the first time you had a little contact you would have to redo the custom widebody. can you do that?

what would you do with it? the car wont be competitive in any current series. you would prolly have to run SPU or something and that car would get creamed. not sure if a bridgeport is legal for EP but i dont think it is.

also keep in mind he invested 15k like 20 years ago. think about what 20 year old performance parts are worth now? not much...

Thanks for the input. I will let the owner see your comments so he could reply.

I think it would make a great car for the vintage races.

yes check all cage welds for cracks/rust. But i think the car is worth 6500$ if the owner can get it running for you and you can drive it around a bit

That's a firewall rx7gslse. keep any flames or gas leaks from fuel cell back there. It was popular to do in the eighties and not a bad idea to do today.

With the bridgeport and wide wheels it would be classed in SCCA GT-2 and HSR Vintage GTU appropriately enough.

The question is if it has any real history. That can change the value of an old car a lot. Try to find out where and when it raced, who drove it, who owned the team, and how the car finished.
You could reproduce that car from scratch for just a little more than what he's asking and everything would be new.
That trailer is nothing to write home about either.
I'm not trying to bash the guy's car, but you can buy running, competitve cars for less than $10K (depepnding on what class/series of course). And that car looks like it will need a bit of work before it's ready to see the track again.
Good luck
