BNR's and Auto X

For AUTO X, I have read that the BNR's in sequential mode are much more laggy then the OEM or Efini's. Anyone with experience please chime in!!! I need to make a choice soon before the season begins.

My OEM's are dripping onto my downpipe and pushing oil through the intercooler (more then usual).

No they aren't. Who said that? In parallel mode they are laggy, I would just go with a GT35R if I was going to do them parallel but the BNR's sequential rock.

Thing is... you're automatically thrown in Street Modified with non-OE turbos.

it would be best to just get the 280HP 99+ spec JDM turbos. I had them on my FD and loved them.

Can't use JDM parts either.

-Edit-

...to replace parts that are to remain stock.

Right. Stock does not allow update/backdate among model years. '99 spec turbos are illegal for an FD in Stock.

Hey All.

If you tell me to make them stock appearing I can get the stage 3's to look stock. All I have to do is make the Y pipe look stock where I extend it and it will be nearly impossible to detect. I have had that request before...

What happens when there are no more stock turbos? There aren't any new Hitachi OEM turbos being made, are there? Would a replica turbo be allowed?

Stock turbos are still available. Even if they weren't the car is still bound to the same rules and couldn't change to a different turbo. You change the turbos and you are automatically out of Stock and Street Prepared.

So what CAN you do in the way of power increases and stay in ASP? I have to imagine the FD would not be competitive in SM against the C5's?

Power is not the most important factor in Auto X, its the freak-n-the seat!!!
Little 91 Civic Si's rule STS with just 110 HP.

An FD is still competitive its just that there are so many other cars and alot less FD's on the Auto X course.

McKee in SM2 took 2nd @ National's Last year in I think a 93 R1 !!
Does anyone know if he posts on here?

Yes, and Andy is running a GT35R on his car. He also won the Pro Solo Championship last year over the car that beat him in the Solo2. I had the JDM turbos on my car and comparing the power and torque between the 2 setups, his GT35R setup had more lowend and about equal power to my sequential running JDM turbos. Go figure?!

The BNRs run sequentially are NOT noticeably more laggy than the stock twins. Trust me, I'm a seq nut and would have noticed....

Trust me, as an rx-8 owner against 350z and BMW's, (and a Miata owner) I know that! But the ASP cars in my region have MASSIVE hp, and they can put it down to the ground. I was just curious as to what could be done in ASP on the powertrain side of things. Obviously ASP cars benefits the most from suspension, but I doubt any nat'l ASP champs have an unmodified powertrain.

There are more important things to upgrade than plain power. If I had choice between an extra 100 hp or 2" wider wheels, I'd pick the latter (the latter happens to cost more, too). I am crossing my fingers for 350whp this weekend with my currents mods and upcoming tune.
