Anyone Watching The 24hrs (LeMans don't cha know)
So far it has been pretty eventful. Too bad I am going to have to go to corksport to get my key so I can get the car tomorrow.
I think they are trying the smoke screen tactic unsuccesfully! Last I saw they were swapping clutches for the third time because the thing makes MoNsTeR torque. Kudos to McNish for limping the R8 back to the pits. I want a Morgan Aero!

Hasn't been a rotary in the field since the 787B won. IT actually ran a very competitive number of laps even next to what they run today. With 10+ years of potential advancements it seems like it could compete with the Audis which have owned the 24 hours for the last few of years.
that's incorrect. the 787B was the last factory funded rotary in the field.
Research on the web because i lost all my links but there have been several rotary powered cars since the 787b.
and technically the bently won, even if audi did pretty much give them an r8r

The Bentley was far from the R8... They shared some technology and most of Team Bentely was composed of Audi engineers but the chassis was all it's own. I was a guest of David Brabham's and Team Bentley at Sebring last year and spent hours going over the car. My favorite car of all time and imo the most lovely.
Didn't watch any of the coverage but they had one car entered for LMP. I had aheard a rumor somewhere they were ditching the LMP car and bringing the Esperante back for GTS. But since I gave up Speedvision it's hard to keep up.
There was a 4-Rotor entry last year but their stint ended early cause of gearing problems. It was a Kudzu chassis by Jim Downing and the rest of his crew. They're back east in Georgia.
How close were you guys really watching? No one has mentioned it! You call yourselves Rotary enthusiasts.. Johnny Herbert was one of three drivers that drove the Mazda 787B to victory in 1991. He was also racing this weekend but in the Audi R8 Sport UK Team Veloqx. They placed second overall. Nice to see him still at the top of his game!
