Revhead7- Negative experience. (Excuse, My Mom ran them over?)

  • Part 1:
I won this ebay auction. I thought that despite having recent negative feedback and poor quality pictures, it was a good deal. I paid right after the auction closed.
  • Part 2:
The next day I got this email
    Dear scapegoat!,

Sorry to tell you this but my mom accidently ran over those 99 spec jdm tail lights both are cracked. I will refund your 227.50 by paypal, sorry for the inconveince.

    - revhard7
  • Part 3: I see this thread.
I'm not real angry, just disappointed.

I would stay on this big time--according to his ebay feedback he did this exact same thing to someone, but he never returned their money. Also, you can report this to ebay, because the guy has refused to send you what you legitimately won. I would seriously consider filing a complaint. In that complaint you should mention how he claimed they were broken, and then listed them on here for more money. You may not get much out of it, but it might be useful in applying pressure should he play games with your refund.

While I can't totally fix the situation, I did what I could......
PMed the buyer warning him of the shady seller, and reopened the thread with a warning to be cautious dealing with this guy.

That's definitely a dick move. If he wanted at least that price for them....put a RESERVE price on it.

Also, it'd be great if a moderator can put the guy's name in the title of this thread.

Absolutely.

If this individual isn't capable of taking responsibility for his actions then his actions should be halted.

DO THE RIGHT THING and send the thread starter his tail lights.

Maybe the guy who purchased them on this forum should ask for a refund. If he doesn't pay him, it might change the sellers mind about selling it to the OP.

As the offended party, I didn't post any details like his real name, email or paypal id because I did get my money back. When you deal with a jerk and you loose nothing other than some time, you generally consider yourself lucky. I really don't want those tails anymore. The less contact I have with this loser the better.

I will probably contact ebay with this information. At least loosing his ebay account would be a good punishment.

My main reason for starting this thread was to share that "My mom ran it over" line. IMHO, it has to be the lamest excuse since "my dog ate it." When I saw that email I just knew these tails came no where near his mom's car. I was doubly shocked when I saw him post them the same day on such a popular forum. Using the same images even. He needs to be punished just for being so incredibly stupid.
