Throttle Blip at Idle Stalls Car

Hi RX7 Club Community,

I have a 100% stock JDM FD that I just installed a PFC on and I'm having the car stall on me when its at idle and I blip the throttle. By blip I mean as quick of a jab to 25% and off as possible. When I do this, it will momentarily hesitate, rev up ~200rpms, and then drop back down to a level it stalls out on. Also when lifting off the throttle and letting the revs drop down to idle it will get really low (~500) almost stalling.

Inputs:
  • Idle RPM: 720-740rpm (fully warmed up)
  • Idle adjustment screw: tried both 3/8 and 1/2 a turn from all the way closed. No difference at all.
  • Did idle learning procedure 2x
  • Recent Maintenance/Mods:
    • New filter for stock intake box
    • New spark plugs (stock)
    • Wideband 02 sensor installed
  • Battery voltage: 14.0-14.2v while running
  • PFC Setting Modifications outside of the stock map that comes on the unit:
    • 02 F/B Control turned off
    • Idle-IG Cntrl turned off (same behavior with it on and off)
  • Other Observations:
    • After it stalls I very occasionally hear a buzzing/high-pitched whine coming from under the hood until i turn the ignition completely off and back on
    • it doesn't happen every time, sometimes it will stutter super low and fix itself
    • This was not an issue on the stock ECU
    • Happens whether car is hot or cold, but obviously when cold the revs are higher to begin with so less likely to occur.
  • Ignition Leading Map (stock PFC)

Asks:
  • What could be the cause of the idle dropping to a stalling point upon a throttle blip or let-off?
  • Anything I can do to diagnose?
  • Any PFC settings/setup that I should've done but didn't?
  • Any fixes that come to mind?

Greatly appreciate your time in providing some insight on this!

Any pointers to good guides, relevant search terms, or a direction to look into? Greatly appreciated in advance!

Sorry cant help with your main issue but the buzzing after stalling is normal with the PFC installed.

I agree with zsweetz32 that the dashpot is letting the throttle close too quickly.

Did you ever determine what your problem was?

sounds like he just had the fuel cut restore set too low. the buzzing, as mentioned, is normal. its the iacv doing that. why it does it.... who knows.... but its normal. cycle the key and it resets.
