Power FC Power FC stock map worth it?
Power FC stock map worth it?
Hey Guys!
So i just installed a apexi power FC and my friend told me that its useless to use it if im not gonna map it.
I have no plans of mappin it right now since the car is stock so my question is shall i keep the apexi ECU and drive with it? or shall i buy a new stock ECU?

The bigger question is what you expect from the PFC if you are keeping the car stock and have no plans to map it?
Did your car not have an ECU when you got it? You can certainly use a PFC on stock car and likely keep the base map on it. Likely, you'd want to slightly richen it up to be on the safer side.

Also i have future plans to tune the car to make it faster but not right now so i feel like tuning the ecu right now wont be worth the money.
Sounds like you should have fixed that problem rather than masking it with the PFC. Do you know why the car ran that way with the stock ECU? If the car is really stock, there should be no reason the stock ECU cannot run it (i.e. it came from the factory with the stock ECU and being able to go over 3000 rpms).

However i dont think that i did a bad choice with going for a pfc since it will be needed in the future just my friend that made me a bit unsure if i should drive the car or not with the stock pfc map but searchin on google it seems like plenty of people has been doing that
well the previous owner did say that the car is stock but seems like he had other parts and tuned the ecu or something. I wont get any boost with the stock ecu and it will fire like a gun once i push more then half throttle.

anyway, i would read thru the post arghx linked. just make it safer for now.
the stock ECU has several safeguards that PFCs do not (I dont know them off the top of my head, good knock sensing is one of them).

It sounds like you stock ECU was going into limp mode. You need to check the sensor & switch screen, verify that your VMOP is not highlighted.
The PFC does not have limp mode, so it will not alert you to a failed critical component like the OMP.
That being said the PFC is much better than the stock ECU even with the Apexi base map.

Having a faulty solenoid will prevent turbo transition or effect emissions. This does not prevent the car from passing 3K rpm.
For that matter installation of a PFC will not fix faulty solenoids.
